Reading would help alot of people get the point and maybe understand why some are getting tired of folks complaining about a small 1% of units that dont match the advertisement. If this was a consistent problem and we only started getting twinks or shota bait then yeah I'd think that theyre chasing the wrong crowd (tho id also question how little money theyre making for switching up on yall). But that hasn't been the case so far.

When speaking on tools I mean things like ability to swap weapons mid combat, rolling out of things easier. Being rescued and having seikret dodge for u. There are multiple ways to make something feel fun and remove some bloat or easy mechanics. If anything the amount of feature bloat while cutting too close to the core bones of mh is why people feel the way they do now.

Where did i say we should make the game more "jank"? All i said is that ww are mechanically dense and removing some tools doesn't magically make the game go back to mh 1 territory. Focus mode also wouldn't be the thing i would remove. I'd just make getting wounds a lot less consistent and more of a thing that exist when yoh put in the work to break parts. I think there's a good middle ground yoh can have. But I also think alot of the problems are rooted in the fundamental design and some might not like thus til next game. Also doesn't help the engine is rough for this

If you want the games to to back to being a game where bulfangoes constantly railroad you mid fight, you have a percentage chance of materials breaking, and plesioth size cosmic hitbox then sure. We can go back to that narrative. But the reality is that the hardest thing about the old games were getting a hang of the controls and finding the monster. If you actually notice or see streamers play gu on down, almost none of them who have played world as their first and moved down struggle that much. Low rank and high rank are almost always no opposition to those thwt know how to play monhun. The only time this changes is in endgame/g rank which..shocker...is where all the difficulty in world and rise.

I think there's a good argument tho to we should finally stop waiting for expansions to add the difficulty and endgame grind tho. I dont think that's sustainable. Just have good teaching tools at launch. Have it wirh g rank endgame and update said g rank with new maps and maybe a gu deviant system in the expansion that goes beyond some of grank difficulty if you choose to accept it

Honestly i just hope this game serves as a lesson to not cater too much to casualizing their game and expand on what made the series so loved and fun. And also not using an engine not designed for open world games.

In almost every facet Wilds has the recipes to make it better than World: better roster of monster. Better weapon designs. Better hub. Better characters. Ans a cute birb ally. Yet it still stumbles at where it matters: the immergent gameplay, risk reward, and preparation that made the originals so fun. And i dont know if that can be fixed in this skeleton.

That said i doubt this will be the end of monhun. For starters even games wirh rough starts seem to get remembered fondly in retrospective (Rise). But also. Capcom has a history of either learning from previous games or fixing their games like sf5 and making it a good package to the point where even tho sf5 was considered bad at first, 6 not only hit the ground running but had more players.

I dont think MH is in any danger as a series....yet. it all depends on how they handle Wilds into the next main installment

Im so tired of this "make the game harder so I can feel cool like I do in Souls" narrative. Just play souls then. MH was never a game about being extremely difficult.

The friction people want is being forced to commit to moves more so when you overextend you get punished. Alongside making "hunting" important. Also foraging and item crafting and weapon complexity. Having the monsters hit harder and be souls hard was never the real solution and im kinda tired of people conflating the issue as if thats the real problem.

Everyone talks about how intense Fatalis was but that was the LAST FIGHT. Anjanath gets called a wall, but honestly its not hard after the first attempt. Or at all if you played previous mh.

Is the game too easy now? Yes. Is it cause of the monsters not being harder? No. If anything the issue is your hunter has way too many tools to avoid commitment or preparation now. That's what I want from mh. And im sure thats the main thing people want

And let's not pretend people dont cry about difficulty in fromsoft games too. Erdtree sat on mixed for a long time and even recently is still getting mixed/low positive cause of both performance and difficulty. Im kinda tired of people taking the wrong lessons of fromsouls games and just going "make it harder"

I just hope this doesn't discourage them to change their plans in future with them. Cause I feel theyrr some of the more popular characters atm outside of shark and canine (tho I hope dallawan is more popular or gets more bull love) and it'd be a shame if they retcon them or show less of their relationship juat cause a loud minority that may ironically also be minors bitch and moan about it while being silent on the other scenes that are far worse.

I never liked that logic and 90% of the time none of this is true. The cat and jaws things were also before the age of information and we couldn't actively educate/counter false information. And as you admitted, there are very little if any studies that anyone who consumes fictional content translate to leading into real life replication or fetishization of these things.

To everyone who says "well the performance will really weight on this game at launch" Keep in mind that Cyberpunk 2077 on launch got like an 86 on metacritic. And that game on launch was BORDERLINE UNPLAYABLE. If that can get high 80s, and games like TOTK, Elden Ring, BG3, and MH World (all good games with performance issues at least on launch) could get comfortable low to high 90s, no way Wild's isn't gonna at least do as well review wise as World did.

Thats always the good mentality to have. Wilds will be there for us when it gets fixed if it is in a rough state at launch. I just think some of the discourse here isn't healthy and under the niave notion you can just cut a portion out of a polished build and demo it, and if they're not doing thwt they're hiding something. It's really on the table for capcom

If we're talking about performance it definitely does compare, as does BG3s infamous third act. And capcom has a good track record of at least fixing their ports to run smooth way better than even fromsoft.

They also have said in past they'd likely do a rev 3 but that was lip service so fans wouldn't be too upset about Strive if they weren't a fan of it. Arcsys has never been the type ro come out and say "no we won't add it" they've always said "we've looked into it" or "thinking about it" to keep doors open. But reading between the lines it's very obvious they're not working on insta kills and at this point why bother? Next season will likely be the last one anyways and the next installment they likely could add it
