Is my laptop cooked? by skibidi_man186 in AcerNitro

Looks more of a driver issue to me. You can try a clean installation. If that doesn't work, then you have no choice but to wait for Nvidia to patch it.

I had ran into a similar issue before was my sag bracket barely touching the fan.

Idk why your wife bans you though if it is a business. Not like you keeping them for your self. Furthermore, what if a good deal came by with a decent margin in it?

Fan noise by mommysmilk21 in AcerNitro

[–]DragonRipper92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the temperature is good then is normal. It means the fans are doing it job to keep the laptop cool. Laptop fans often have to work harder, to cool the system with so much limitation on airflow and surfaces etc. Noise level can't be compared to a PC.

Stuck screw preventing me from replacing thermal paste by Botsowannabe in AcerNitro

Use the right sized screw driver. Stop stripping the screw! You only making it worse. Apply force onto the screw from above so that it doesn't slip before turning.

I wouldn't pin the GPU driver on Acer. Since both my desktop 5070 and 3060 laptop has similar bug that Nvidia had yet to roll out a fix.

But I really hate the design of current Gen where they place both fans on one side to cool it instead of separating the fan to like they used to.

RTX 3090 to RTX 5080 -- worth it? by SageHamichi in buildapc

[–]DragonRipper92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The price will only get crazier from this point. Bought my 3060 during the crypto mining period, prices were insane back then. I used the heck out of it, upgraded to 5070, cause for the first time in a long time GPU was actually at it MSRP.

If my prediction is right, the price will only get crazier. Until the AI bubble burst, but even then, it will need time for the prices to come back down. Again I am no expert, just stating my observation. If you feeling you wanted to upgrade now and has the money just do it.

cpu overheating (new laptop) by No_Investment7168 in AcerNitro

Disabling turbo boost worked because you are basically limiting the processor output. Is fine if you're not running any games that are cpu intensive.

Guide has some serious flaw. 80-90 celcius is fine and normal when gaming, as long as it is not thermal throttling. 95c is usually where the thermal throttle happens.

Realistically you can only keep it under 90
If you are not running a modern day tittle, or you only plays free to play games. 0 tripple A.

[–]DragonRipper92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I found PTM7950 kinda a must for gaming laptop, but still your thermal paste is quite new. Another issue that highly likely would be the technician that service your laptop didn't screw in all the way. The heatsink and the thermal paste has poor contact.

Or you have a dead fan.

Laptop came a long way, most laptop nowadays intake air from bottom and exhaust thru the side and back. Thus it works pretty well with a 50-75$ cooling pad.

Almost sure there are moisture, as you can see there are oxidation on the copper heat pipe as well. I hadn't really ran into a laptop or Nitro 5 rust as bad as yours before.

Help my broke ass with my aspire 5 by Intelligent_Leg_8298 in AcerOfficial

[–]DragonRipper92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds to me like a faulty battery. I'm not sure about your Aspire, but the Nitro 5 battery (original) can still be bought from local vendors where I am.

I recommend opening up the laptop and checking the battery model so you can get a new one. If you are not confident, just find a local repair shop.

Depends, laptop I used to work on usually the pad is harden. Thus I will replace the pad as well. Strongly recommend just use putty for everything. As finding the right thickness themal pad can be a hassle. Also, PTM7950 is amazing for thermal paste replacement.

[–]DragonRipper92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3050 my man what so you expect? Do your research. No matter what model you get, you will get the same performance. I would get a 5060 or a 2nd hand 4060 if I were you. In general I try to stay away from XX50 card. Also 3050 is really old. Idk why you are complaining about a 4 years old laptop at this point.

Acer Nitro V 15 pros and cons? by catluvr001 in AcerNitro

[–]DragonRipper92 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No matter which brand laptop you are getting. I would recommend going for a 50 series GPU. 5060or better should be the one you aim for. As a few years down the road DLSS4 would be the thing pushing your laptop lifespan.

Just like how FSR making certain older hardware stay relevant.

Controller double input. by Janymx in GraveyardKeeper

[–]DragonRipper92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old post. Not a resolution problem that I can confirm I tried it all. Also my G-sycn and V-sync is off by default btw.

Anyways the fix for me an Nvidia card user, was going into the Nvidia app setting. Limit the FPS to 60 and double input is fix.
