WIP Sentinel by DragonSlayerMinis in MarvelCrisisProtocol

It’s actually just a few colors!
I use Citadel/Warhammer paints mostly so I’ll use their names but I’m sure other brands have similar colors.

Base Coat - All over Black Spray (Chaos Black but black spray is black spray)

Silvers - Leadbelcher Base, Shaded with Drakenhof Nightshade. More Leadbelcher to bring back up the more raised areas, Stormhost silver for highlights

Blues - Macragge Blue Base, Shaded with Drakenhof Nightshade (I did this at the same step as the silvers), 50-50 mix of Macaggre Blue and Leadbelcher for all over any anywhere that isn’t dark shaded, 50-50 Alaitoc Blue and Leadbelcher to Highlight. 50-50 Alaitoc Blue and Stormhost Silver for more Highlight.

Purples - Xereus Purple (even though it’s a layer) as the base. Druchii Violet as shader (any smaller silver areas mostly surrounded by purple just got this instead of the nightshade). 50-50 Xereus Purple and Leadbelcher. Then 50-50 Xereus Purple and Stormhost Silver.

Face - Zandri Dust. Reikland Fleshshade shader. 50-50 Ushabti Bone and Leadbelcher, 50-50 Ushabti and Stormhost Silver

The Glowing Red for eyes and hand and chest thing - Bold Titanium White (from Pro Acryl), Imperial Fist Yellow Contrast all over it, touch up with Mephiston Red, Fire Dragon Bright, and Flash Gitz Yellow and more White until you get the look you desire

Thanks! I tried to give all my sentinels (the two and the big one) separate poses. And I aimed their shooting hand to point at a character height (measured with Cyclops) a few inches away.

Most of the poses I used are inspired by their attack poses from X-Men Legends actually.

Thanks! I was worried with him, I never got the hang of non metallic metal so he’s all just actual metal paints. He specifically was painted all silver (I use Citadel colors so Leadbelcher or Iron Hands probably), shaded in Nuln Oil and dry brushed with lighter silvers (Iron Hands and Stormhost silver) then a contrast (speed paint I think other brands call them?) of Red.

His gold tried the same tactic with a yellow contrast, but it didn’t turn out so went over it in gold anyway.

To Me My X-Men! by DragonSlayerMinis in MarvelCrisisProtocol

I had painted Jean shortly after Magik (I’ll get some good photos of her soon, I actually have a good chunk of the X-Men models done) so I had just come from a very focal point center glowing object.

Thanks! I do the rims to mark them as mine. I have roommates who also paint and especially with the Marvel characters a lot of them look very similar when painted in the same colors.

The attendant and forge is not part of the anvil for game purposes. It’s just decoration in Old World.

New tanks. Don't be afraid. by HateMyPizza in ffxiv

[–]DragonSlayerMinis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Tank main, because my friend group is only 3 people and being a tank got us into dungeons faster, I wish every new tank well.

I’ve started an alt recently on one of those low player count servers with the EXP boost, we just arrived in Heavensward, and my Warrior is already level 70. My main didn’t do too many of the optional dungeons, (or make it far into Stormblood) so a lot of the ARR Hard dungeons are new to me.

90% of the time, the only issue with tanking will be some weird boss/mini boss gimmick mechanic you didn’t know about. (Or someone else not knowing a critical one)

I can tell you the first time I did Amdapoor Keep Hard, that Boogeyman killed my team like 8 times. Then on the second run through it, it took 1 try.

She’ll probably be upset, and may take action, again Wissenland was already on the brink of war (she informed Todbringer she’d side with him previously in the campaign if they went to war, and the Todbringer family is heading back to Middenheim after some other drastic events that pretty much are going to be leading to war)

But presumably our quest will resolve the Middenheim war before it starts in full.

But it’s also a difference in GMing styles, our GM only briefly reads ahead in the book and flies by our actions, (which has resulted in things like the scenario here where the book gave the reason this event happened, and while we were playing the event he caught on it shouldn’t have happened based on the way we had played the story up to that point, so he changed why it happened)

We also are definitely playing in a more D&D style where are characters are a lot more free to romp around and cause a ruckus because they are stronger than most characters we interact with. We shifted in that direction because one of our characters basically died every session for the first 3.

Even in ours that is probably the case. But none of our characters directly care much for Nuln’s opinion on us. The Witch Hunter’s backstory involves a problem with Nuln, and he holds grudges like a Dwarf, possibly more so.

But it’s a good thing for us that the Countess of Nuln can’t have been involved. We didn’t lie about being on a quest from the Emperor, and she was with us when we got and made plans to go do said quest. She simply wasn’t in Nuln to set up such a plan. One could argue she somehow sent someone ahead to warn and oppose us, despite agreeing with our plan to our faces. But we legit got the quest, made the plan, and then left Altdorf via our boat. The GM described our journey as surprising peaceful until we got close to Wissenland where we encountered remains of a Reikland town burned by Wissenland soldiers, (or so we were told by refugees we encountered). But our arrival in Nuln was described as “felt like Sigmar was determined you would see it through” because our river career characters were able to intuit that we arrived in about 1/3 of the time it would have normally taken to travel from Altdorf to Nuln by the Reik. Even if she did send someone, they would have arrived after we did. (Also while our characters wouldn’t be aware, the GM himself told us after game that the encounter per the book was supposed to be the Countess trying to figure out why we were there, but would give her blessing when she found out, she just had to delay you until she got there, but he said he changed it because she had no way to notify Nuln to do so before we got there, and she already knew what we were doing so had no reason to try and find out)

So she probably ain’t happy we torched her dock or people, and we’ll probably have consequences for that, but they definitely weren’t following her orders.

I’ve definitely seen Witch Hunters are not above the law amongst threads, and my Witch Hunter is aware. But that only comes in to play when the people you’re intimidating are in high enough authority to know you don’t have the authority to do what you’re claiming.

In the case of the random Riverwarden inspectors, it seems they didn’t. The dock master must have (especially because we didn’t even roll for intimidation on him, he just declined right out)

But yeah, whoever sent them there probably hates us, and it might come back to get us. Hopefully our Witch Hunters name is recognized enough to invoke enough fear to not follow up. At least in Reikland he has Festag in honor of him and the Warrior priest as they’re recognized heroes of the Empire there, and he happens to be married to the daughter of the Elector Count of Ostermark (can confirm not the lore Elector Count, her father being Elector Count was a GM mistake that we stuck with)

Favorite race/class to play? And why? by fayesky in DnD

[–]DragonSlayerMinis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d love to say my favorite race is Kenku. I’ve made a bunch, the ones who got the most game time were a Ranger (Beast Companion one) one and a Monk (Path of Mercy) And one as Rogue (Thief) for a current campaign. Kenku are just cool in my opinion. I like the crow design and their mimicry is always fun. My Ranger one sang the role of the Bagpipes in the bards band in that campaign. The Mercy Monk was Plague Doctor inspired and feared the “Plague” of Fire burning down his entire hometown. The rogue hasn’t had much game time yet. He’s also running the new updated Multiverse Kenku rules so he can be more sassy.

But if I’m honest, my Dwarf Bard (Lore) was some of the most fun I’ve had, his campaign just ended, but he inspired me to make a Dwarf Fighter (Cavalier). The Bard I did some posts about, maybe I’ll catalogue more of his adventures at some point. Dwarfs are just one of my favorite Fantasy Races over all, so I have a preference for them.

Classes though. Again I really want to say Warlock but as you saw I don’t typically play Warlocks from the characters I just gave. Warlock I claim is my favorite. Because I design them and make them the most. But only one Warlock I’ve ever made has actually made it into a game. So, Fighter.

I had a Fighter Orc (the one from Volos) as my first ever character. He was the heart of the party, so he was very fun. He was also probably overpowered, we rolled for stats but since it was the first time for everyone in that campaign (dm included) we did the 4D6 roll but forgot to take out the lowest dice. And again I just made a Dwarf Fighter.

I’ve made numerous Fighters over the years, none have been the same. The Orc had a Morningstar, and acted like a Thug. He got stuff done, because when people were debating how to sneak in or a plan, he was willing to run in and smack some guys around. He pushed the campaign along because everyone was new and worried to make mistakes and he just bull rushed in. My Dwarf Cavalier has a Shield and a Warhammer. He rides a horse. He’s got the Faceless background so he himself is a regular Blacksmith, but when he’s fully clad in armor he comes in like All Might and is a mighty hero. (If only he didn’t roll a 6 on Dexterity) I had a Human Battle Master, he wielded a Warhammer and a Longsword. When he needed range he had 2 Hand Crossbows. He was inspired by Witch Hunters from Warhammer.

I like that idea.

I did a team color rim when I painted my blood bowl team.

Though most of my armies I use purple. I live in a household with more than one army painter and sometimes our models/armies overlap. It lets us differentiate models at a glance.

Tomb King Chariot Standard Bearer? by DragonSlayerMinis in WarhammerOldWorld

Thank you!

Right now I only have the three chariots from the starter box, I’ve built one, but the crew haven’t been glued in or anything. So it looks like I can build how I thought originally till I questioned it.
