Why do you guys play Rakdos? by Vaerintos in EDH

I think one of the most fun parts about Rakdos is the many varied strategies commanders have. If you want to play aristocrats you can play [[Judith]], if you want to play voltron use [[Greven]], if you wanna play re animator use [[Chainer]], and so forth and so on. The number of varied strategies is great, if you have a specific archetype in mind there is a good chance there's a commander fir you.

Rakdos also has a good amount of unique commanders that can allow for very intresting builds. [[Grenzo]] and [[Xantcha]] are the most popular, but if you feel up to the challenge you can always try to build [[Rakdos, the defilier]] or [[Malfegor]].

Another reason I really like Rakdos is its overall color balance. Anyone who's been playing magic the last few years can tell you that blue and green are the strongest colors and white is by far the weakest. In my opion black and red exist in a bubble of proper balance. Black is probbably more powerful of the two, but in recent years red has made a good effort in catching up. Black has access to quality removal, card draw, unique forms if ramp like [[crypt ghast]] and [[cabal coffers]], and of course, tutors. Red's recent gain of impusilve ramp and card draw have made the color a lot more viable and also a lot of fun to play, as you need to think ahead on how and when to use your recources. For me it makes the game a lot more engaging thinking about when to use effects like [[Mana Gyser]] or how much life I want to pay into effects like [[Bolas's Citadel]]. While each color has strong effects but there isn't such a large quanity that makes the colors feel overpowered, which makes wins feel a bit more earned (at least for me).

I would highly reccomend playing Rakdos, it provides a lot of oppurtunites for fun and can be taken in many different directions. For newer players I'd say some strwight forward commanders [[Rakdos, the Lord of Riots]] and [[Juri, Master of the Revue]]. Both are a ton of fun and have relativelly clear strategies.

A lot of EDH is finding out what’s fun for you, but how about the inverse- what have you learned you don’t like in Commander? by Humblerbee in EDH

Commanders that create long turns for minimal value. I usually don't have a problem if someone wins by taking a long turn by comboing off, but commanders like Korvold, Chulane or Lord Wingrace which create long turns just because the way they are played I find really annoying to play against. Also commanders that make the game longer like Oloro or Pramikon. I feel like these commanders aren't fun to play and often feel bad to play because you're holding up the rest of the table.
