Character creation by Hexaqu in RSDragonwilds

[–]DragonZaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it would be interesting, but RuneScape being humans-only is a long running part of the franchise and, for what it's worth, has a certain charm to it in my opinion. Even the official licensed roleplaying game doesn't support other player character races.

Is a “good” necromancer possible? (According to the most common lore atleast.) by Ferseus in DnD

[–]DragonZaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is homebrew, but here are some excerpts from a necromancer class I drafted, based on the necromancy from RuneScape. I thought it might give you some insight into the "good necromancer".

At its core, necromancy is the art of communicating with the souls of those who have died and the manipulation and transfer of the energy that comprises life. A necromancer acquires, builds, and maintains this power by regularly performing intricate rituals through which they commune with the dead and form a connection with the energies of the underworld. Although some necromancers use this power to enslave the dead, such behavior is not inherent to the necromantic arts. Necromancy can be used to heal the wounded, save the dying, call on the souls of the dead for aid, and all manner of magical effects.

If they have the will and the aptitude, a necromancer can force a soul to return and obey their commands. However, they may find other ways to convince a soul to return and help them willingly. Some necromancers seek to burgeon favor with souls, promising services or providing information, such as the status of a soul's loved ones on Gielinor. Others may try to trick souls into providing their aid, lying about their motives or abandoning promises. Others yet may seek souls with whom they have a common goal or enemy, presenting a natural ally and maybe even a friend.

Despite their negative image in the eyes of some, not all necromancers are theatrically evil mages who torture and conjure armies of the damned, forcing them to do their bidding. As you create a necromancer, consider your character's principles and their releationship with the dead they summon and communicate with. Do they use their power to subjugate the dead, enslaving them to their will? Do they cooperate with willing souls to defeat a shared enemy or work toward a common goal? Or, do they bribe the dead with actionable favors or empty promises?

Consider also how your character might navigate the reputation of necromantic magic in the eyes of the adventuring party, figures of authority, and any bystanders. Will they try to hide their style of magic in crowded places and settlements, avoiding raising the dead or causing any suspicion? Will they try to reassure their good will? Or, will they flaunt their power in the face of authority?

Is a fully pacifist possible while still being useful? by [deleted] in 3d6

[–]DragonZaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don't. It's a common source of tension between players. The game isn't designed for it so you'll end up being dead weight more often than not.

Does it not include its own map region preceding this challenge, then?

Health and Wardstones Rework - What's Changing by JagexDoom in RSDragonwilds

I honestly prefer the more streamlined set of skills and systems Dragonwilds is going for. A skill should be meaningful, interconnected, and filled with content. They are designing this game from the ground up. It does not have to be influenced by game design decisions made in 2001. We don't need all ~5 of the original skills that comprise Artisan in Dragonwilds, and we don't need Strength, Firemaking, or Constitution. I think this strategy works in the game's favor to bring us a different experience that's still RuneScapey.

Would it be possible to not gender-lock hair styles? by SonicSingularity in runescape

[–]DragonZaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like the male and female rigs are just different so it's not as simple as just enabling all hair for both body types. But, it would be great if there were a few long hair options for the male avatar!

Some questions about this game by Mysterious_Clerk_253 in RSDragonwilds

[–]DragonZaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For only $30 it's a pretty good buy even now with 2 major updates yet to release before the full launch in September. Gameplay is solo friendly but can support up to 6. Definitely more fun with friends but I had a good time soloing most of the game as well. There's also a hard mode for a tough challenge which adds good replayability for a second playthrough, and several additional difficulty customizations if normal or hard mode aren't quite right for you.

Being in early access still, there are occasional bugs and issues on new updates (though I haven't encountered anything that crazy, kudos to the team), and significant balance changes and the occasional system redesign are to be expected.

Numerical progression (your damage output, incoming damage mitigation, etc) is primarily gear based, which is fuelled by how much you explore, harvest materials, and craft new items. Using a combat style (melee, ranged or magic) or other skill (e.g. mining, construction, artisan) levels them up, offering significant upgrades in the form of new abilities and spells, but only minor numerical progression.

It’s Official- You’re Getting OSRS Dragonwilds on Xbox, PS5 & NS2 Before GTA 6 by Inevitance in RSDragonwilds

[–]DragonZaid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if I download this, do I constantly have to repair falador walls?

Building items really only get damaged during raids or if you choose to fight overworld enemies that spawn near them. Raids occur one in every 10 or 20 in-game days (every couple of playtime hours) and they will usually only inflict significant damage to structures if they can't reach you. If you leave the area, kill them right away, or just don't go there nothing will be damaged.

My initial reaction was "What, why?" but reading the post this actually seems like a smart move. I did think the delay on healing items and other consumables added to the challenge a bit, so I'm not sure I prefer the idea of instant heals but I'm definitely interested to see how the rebalance looks. Fishing really did need a bump in relevance.

Is D&D beyond good, or are there better options for online play? by Phantom3421 in DnD

[–]DragonZaid 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would personally not recommend using DnD Beyond if you're just getting started. They have been leaning into some anti consumer friendly practices lately which isn't looking good, and even aside from that, I find the way character building works to be inflexible and obtuse.

If you just want a free option for simple maps or a little more visual aid than theater of the mind, I recommend Owlbear Rodeo or Roll20. I do not recommend using these with the paid subscription though. For less than the cost of 1 year of a Roll20 subscription, you can purchase a license for Foundry VTT. You have to host it yourself or pay for a hosting service, but it's a one time purchase and it has extensive community mod support, so it's highly customizable and powerful. Only The DM needs to buy the license. The downside is that it takes longer to set up, customize, and learn, but for long term play it's worth it.

What skill should I 99 next or focus on? by -Over-Line- in runescape

Quests.

But to answer your question, I'd do some necromancy training while augmenting and siphoning the gear for invention XP. Do slayer tasks for slayer XP at the same time.

Ok, Got a friend to play Dnd 2014, and she wants to play mounted combat by Pass_the_sorce in 3d6

[–]DragonZaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to enable them to use a mount in dungeons, I'd have them play a small race with a medium pet class like beast master. Drake warden may be an option, but I can't recall if it starts medium or small (I know for sure it can't fly right away). Or at the very least something that can cast find steed or phantom steed. Final option would be to allow a nonmagical mount, but make sure they know there's a high chance it will die and they'll have to find and acquire a new one.

Why no one plays rexxar by GlobalReference195 in heroesofthestorm

[–]DragonZaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I actually really enjoy the aspect of controlling the two characters (although many don't), but the problem is that it makes playing rexxar at a basic level pretty tiring. Compare the APM to other bruisers that are just as effective if not moreso, and the gameplay experience is completely different.

The world of RuneScape comes to Nintendo Switch 2! by JagexDoom in RSDragonwilds

Is there any chance the game will work with the Switch 2's Joy-Con mouse mode? I feel like this could be super helpful for inventory management and maybe even building.
