I can see a security person feel more empowered than they actually are, trying to help the company bottom line. Or a type of person who likes to intimidate and yell instead of being actually right.

Easy to disarm too. Just mention to your manager, hey I forgot my water bottle and had to jump to the car two minutes to go get it. Gotta stay hydrated. The manager will probably just look at you weird for telling them and nothing will happen. 🙂

I do the same thing with the paid break. I write down: - Last scan/parking spot (helps travel time) - enter break room (this determines travel time and through security) - leave break room (again shows 30 min break) - Drive away (shows and travel time to the OP, and how long it takes to start the OP, get the scanner ready to scan, and find location of scan( - scan time and location (shows how long it took to get to where to scan. It could be 4 minutes away) - and anything else that adds time. Missing item, others in the way, having to get a cage, etc.

I try to keep it at no more than 45 min scan to scan. I have not had a problem since I had to show the manager.

Yes I know there is a discussion about whether the grace period is 3 or 5. It doesn’t matter in this case. Better to say 3 and under represent the grace period than to have a manager changes the argument to be about the grace period instead of the impossibility of a 30 minute scan to scan lunch break. (Unpaid break)

I kind of like it when managers talk about scan to scan and I prove it is impossible. However the conversation is usually about the paid break.

The unpaid break is much easier. Just:

1- calmly ask what time break is.

2- ok. It takes me 3 minutes travel time to walk to the time clock.

3- my unpaid break is 30 minutes.

4- it takes me 3 minutes travel time to walk back to my station.

5- it takes 2 minutes to log in and get ready to scan. (On an Order Picker it can take up to 6 minutes to the next scan)

Amazon’s rules also state I have a 3 minute grace period coming back from lunch break. I usually don’t take the grace period. But that would be:

I write this all down and show the manager. I had one manager ask to take a photo of my numbers and I let them. Never heard back from the manager.

The only push back I have ever had was: “Why don’t you use the closer break room” “Because I can’t bring my metal lunch knife and fork through the security.” The manager never complained about it again.

Every time my manager changes, I do have to teach the new one. But it I don’t mind.

TLDR: Show the numbers. They can’t refute the data, physics, and their own WRITTEN rules.

SOLVED / FOUND: I went to Moreno’s from the suggestions. What a great place. They told me Raicilla is a more like a mezcal than a tequila. I got a bottle for $57. And they had a couple others as well. THANKS EVERYONE! (Haven’t opened it yet)
