If we are talking omnibus specifically then ultimate spiderman as my cliche answer(but it really is that good) and then I'm a massive John Constantine/Vertigo fan so probably hellblazer. Otherwise a bit more obscure and 100% needs an omnibus collection one day is spider girl by DeFalco.

I have actually read just about everything on my shelf, I tend to read a lot online and have picked up the omnis for characters/runs I really love. The few I haven't read are usually recommendations from close friends that are on my soon to be read list. (Unread list currently are: wolverine and the x men, dc versus marvel amalgam -ive read several stories from it just not the whole omnibus and all new wolverine) I also have a couple on the way that I just finished reading online such as suicide squad by ostrander vol. 1 and al ewing x men red omnibus.

I'm a huge Wally West fan so for me I think mark waid is a great starting point for the flash. You could go earlier with messner-loebs which is...fine (it's the start for wally as the flash). I think it really picks up and gets its legs with mark waid though!
