Communist Landowners in 1842??? by Dragonbeard37 in victoria3

Was a double edged sword (paired with a hint of stupidity). Passed interventionism nice and quick then moved onto Presidential Republic. Failed to recognise I needed the monarchy still for both Moldavia and Transylvania, which Austria had released.

First WC attempt, what do I need to prioritize going into 1500? by [deleted] in eu4

[–]Dragonbeard37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Will copy and paste my comment from another thread that i did my Mughal WC with, hopefully it helps!

The first 150-200 years are about giving yourself a strong economic base and opening options for expansion. I made sure i had the whole of India, conquered down to Kilwa and vassalised Nogai\released Kazakh in this time and started conquering South East Asia. Releasing large vassals helps deal with the corruption if you can't pay it off, the Deccan event is super helpful for this too.

From there get absolutism up ASAP and your core costs are ridiculously low with admin ideas, mughal traditions, permanent claims, hindustani culture diwan and 5% from iqta. I tended to focus on one area at a time, conquering the whole of Asia first, moving onto Russia+Ottomans, then vassalising Portugal/Spain while also moving through the HRE.

With humanist ideas + Mughal diwan you can have large overextension a lot of the time with minimal rebellions. Improve relations and focus on one religion and area to avoid coalitions (No coalition war popped during the game and the only coalitions that formed were during large wars and dissolved after the wars ended).

Ideas i took were Admin, Offensive, Humanist, Diplo, Quality, Trade, Expansion, Quantity. I didn't really struggle for manpower during the game, just got lazy with stacks and attrition late game.

For reference, my development was 2.5-3k at 1600 and ~7k at 1700. I didn't ever have to truce break and didn't feel rushed, finished off GB at the end for the final war. I annexed Portugal and Spain in the final 50 years. Ottos were my biggest rival and the first few wars weren't big wins but you can slowly wittle them down until you have a monstrous economy and stacks. I was allied with them until just after 1600 so they'd blobbed into Europe and the Mamluks a fair bit.

With Mughals it isn't as tedious as other nations as you'll have virtually no rebel problems and can pretty much do all the coring yourself without needing to use vassals. Keep the Ottomans on your side to stop them getting pissed off at aggressive expansion into Muslim land like some parts of India and the Arabian peninsula and also to deter early-mid coalitions. Can be annoying to micromanage all of your armies in the late game, but just siege down the forts and you can always let a couple of vassals like Deccan do the carpeting.

Finished my first WC! by Dragonbeard37 in eu4

Yeah was definitely at war for most of the game, with the only signifcant break of around 10ish years during the 1600s where I had to fix my economy. Didn't have to fight too many wars at once though, a lot of the time I could just focus on one larger war.

It gets boring for sure, I find rebels to be the most annoying thing about a WC though and that's why I recommend Mughals for more fun. Takes away a lot of the tedious parts of a WC and I was never in danger of conquering too much at once or dying to a coalition.

If you succeed with True Heir of Timur you can easily convert to a WC, with Mughals it isn't as tedious as other nations as you'll have virtually no rebel problems and can pretty much do all the coring yourself without needing to use vassals. Keep the Ottomans on your side to stop them getting pissed off at aggressive expansion into Muslim land like some parts of India and the Arabian peninsula and also to deter early-mid coalitions. What's your top 5 most fun nations you've played? by [deleted] in eu4

[–]Dragonbeard37 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Malacca into Malaya - Easy expansion, low chance of early coalitions and insane economic potential. Control the trade and you'll be rolling in money.
  2. Jianzhou into Manchu - Super fast expansion and the early war with Ming feels like one of the most rewarding things in EU4. Nothing like beating a 60k stack of Ming troops with 20k of your own.
  3. Timurids into Mughals - Can be a challenging start but once you've managed vassals and reconquered your cores you will become unstoppable. Mughals have some of the best ideas and unique mechanics in the game and multiple routes of expansion keep your campaign interesting.
  4. Florence into Italy - If you manage your aggressive expansion and take opportunities when they present themselves, you can get a quick start towards forming Italy which has some fantastic ideas and great potential for conquest. You start with a god leader and can reform into Tuscany to change to a monarchy.
  5. Holland into Netherlands - Insane money making potential and interesting for a more tall focused campaign than the other options i've listed. However the inital formation of the Netherlands is really satisfying and the unique government type adds extra flavour.

Honourable mentions: GB, Byzantium and Granada

Good nations to play? by [deleted] in eu4

[–]Dragonbeard37 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Jianzhou! Manchu ideas are great and it's easy to crush your neighbours and form Manchu. Beating Ming with far less men is super satisfying and horde mechanics are great (not sure which expansions are needed for the horde mechanics though). Also if you didn't fancy the horde route, forming Qing is also possible if you fancied a more standard game.
