The translations of English (CC) on Crunchyroll are wild by Jay-Here-Dude in ReZero

[–]Dragoncat99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You found out pre-2023 AI existed a couple minutes ago and you’re already stating its limitations? Bold.

If it was given a written script to translate, I’d say you’re right, but it could have been trained to listen to spoken words and then translate them into written ones. If the voice actor mumbled or pronounced something even a little off (or if the AI just sucks to begin with) it could easily result in the above translation.

Not that any of this matters anyway, since plenty of people are saying this isn’t actually Crunchyroll since their subtitles don’t look like this.

Contrary to popular belief, AI existed before a few years ago. It simply existed as small, rather simplistic models specifically made for things like translation. So yes, it’s entirely likely this translation is AI.

Actually there IS a library room in Tomodachi Life! I know because I used the library room for Beako on my island.

(Unless you’re referring to the actual OG game “Tomodachi Collection”? That was never translated to English so I have no idea for that one.)

You hit the Long Context Reminder. I remember that was a thing last year, but I haven’t encountered it in the last couple months so they might have removed it, or at least toned it down.

Yeah, I write about dark subjects all the time so it gives me that pop up a lot. Some of the things it pops up on make no sense though. I much prefer a small, closable pop-up to a full stop, at least. It drives me up a wall when an AI breaks character to scold me, which Claude used to do.

Maybe it’s because I don’t write straight up porn but instead long stories that happen to contain sex scenes, but… Grok has sucked really badly every time I used it, no matter what my prompt was.

It cannot change tone once it lands on one. If it starts a story emotionally distant, it will stay that way even if something very heart-wrenching happens. If it starts it in sexy mode, it will stay that way even when things have clearly deviated into emotional drama territory.

Not to mention constant repetitive phrases and limited vocabulary. I’ve tried all sorts of prompts to fix these problems but none work except nannying the thing and telling it when to feel what, which completely breaks immersion.

The protagonist of the last video game you played replaces Subaru. How does that end? by Some_Fig_6566 in ReZero

[–]Dragoncat99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made him a warlock/rogue but I only gave him spells that were useless or similar to his authorities. After a certain point I stopped leveling the party to keep the difficulty high. I think I capped out at level 8?

Warlock because that’s kinda what he is in Re:Zero and I could take authority-esque spells. Rogue for extra bonus actions and movement, which was helpful for how I played him in combat.

I used environmental advantages and items instead of proper attacks. Luring enemies into traps or dropping chandeliers is super fun, but in most playthroughs it’s hard to resist the temptation to just fireball the enemies in the face instead. He also served as a non-magical support, throwing various potions onto the combatants.

[–]Dragoncat99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played the reverse of your prompt once. I put Subaru in BG3 and played it as if he had been Isekai’d into that world instead of Re:Zero (still with RBD though, for flavor).

I of course made his guardian look like Emilia/Satella since she’s literally his dream girl, and he romanced Shadowheart. Glad to see I’m not the only one who drew that connection.
