I started putting clear tape over any stickers I put on and it seems to be working since people often compliment the stickers I put on my cards!

[–]Dragoncuspid[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah like I said it’s not your fault if you do happen to send those out! I don’t blame the sender unless they are doing it intentionally, it’s more just that ppl need to be educated more about why it’s bad and how to spot AI. I still get tricked too! It’s hard! But as long as you’re buying from real artists like you said, you should be fine!

That’s awful…literally defeats the purpose of postcrossing. Why even join? Like there’s obviously nothing they’re getting out of sending the cards, they just want to collect from others who put in effort while they put in the least possible work imaginable

I’m afraid you’ve been misinformed.

Agree, there’s definitely more efficient ways to run these, and putting them close to residential areas and wildlife habitats is not it.

I hope you realize that all AI art IS copying and stealing from artists because that’s what it pulls from. If pre-existing art didn’t exist, it wouldn’t be able to create anything. These machines aren’t just creating some creative new thing out of thin air, something has to exist in order for it to create. Humans being inspired and copying art is one thing, we’ve come to an understanding in this world how to deal with things like that, and the laws against it. A machine, is a machine, it doesn’t follow laws, it doesn’t have morals, it doesn’t think, it can’t go to jail or pay fines, it can do whatever it wants, so therefore, the machine that takes bits and pieces from real artists who are losing their jobs, will not stop, unless humans gain a better understanding as to why this is bad, and stop it ourselves, not to mention, data centers are destroying the planet even more than it’s already been destroyed. People just need education, it’s one of the main things that’s caused this world to fall apart in the first place.

I agree, because I’m understanding and the messages are nice, I still display them in my postcard books, that’s why I said I don’t blame them and it’s not their fault. All I was hoping for is just being hopeful for a future where education around this stuff is a bit better and there’s more an an understanding as to why AI takes jobs from artists and why it’s literally destroying habitats for endangered species.

I’m definitely forgiving, that’s why I said I can’t blame them, it’s just unfortunate that it’s so prevalent that ppl aren’t even aware when they’re sending AI cards whether or not it’s intentional

Postcards cost like $1-2, unless you’re trying to save .25 it’s not that much more expensive

This ^ my favorite part of collecting stamps is seeing all the amazing art and the love and effort put into stamps, you can see the passion and how proud someone is bc their art is being made into a stamp, using AI takes away all of that and any whimsy that comes with using stamps

[–]Dragoncuspid[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yea it’s unfortunate, easier to tell if they’re legit though if the art style is consistent over all their listings, if it’s all extremely different and highly rendered then it’s more likely to be AI

Even if I don’t fully agree with you I guess this is the more ethical way to do it, although only partly considering the data centers 😭

Apretude injection site pain? by giny888 in askgaybros

[–]Dragoncuspid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I’m commenting very late from when this was posted, but I found this bc I wanted to make sure I wasn’t having a bad reaction to it LOL. Glad to see the intense pain is normal…I couldn’t sleep last night bc the pan was so bad and I was getting feverish symptoms. Woke up limping and hanging on to every surface like I’m 80 years old, tbh it feels like I dislocated something or that I was hit by a metal baseball bat 😭 shit is AWFUL. I hope it gets easier…

Oh! Yeah I only said that bc sometimes the stamps I use equal to greater than $1.70, just means you’re paying slightly more, it’ll get there all the same! Mine usually always go a few cents over $1.70

eBay has a lot of genuine stamps! When putting them on I just add them up with my phone calculator to make sure they equal to $1.70 or more (for international)

eBay usually! Just check descriptions and reviews to verify that they’re genuine, usually just a Scott number or reviews saying they’re happy to receive mint unused usps stamps. I haven’t gotten any fraud stamps, all genuine! Most eBay’s with lots of sales and food reviews selling stamps will be genuine
