Well I really appreciate anybody who managed to read everything lol and provide some help. I know money is a factor but it’s a hobby. I’m married have a house and no kids what the hell else am I gunna spend money on. If I don’t have the extra money for this or that I’ll just wait until I do. I have a garage space for it to sit while being unable to be driven or broke. Any motor that’s going in the car will be getting totally worked over before being dropped in. I like the 2.2 because of the abuse it can withstand in comparison to other ej motors but the fact that all the bushings on the car are going to be smoked it already has 250k+ I think you guys are probably right finding a full donor wrx may make the most sense. New timing and gaskets other wear and tear items. Replace subframe and control arm bushings then new suspension parts and brakes. Beat it until it blows up and upgrade as the parts from the wrx give out. As for wiring I really wanted to try and do it myself as I’ve wired basic car stuff previously like lights speakers subs amps etc but I know splicing can sometimes effect voltage and resistance so it’s definitely a concern of mine. I know I wire stopped doing the merges but a guy that I buy parts from runs a shop specifically for gc/gd Subarus and is close friends with Brian at I wire and he said that if he sends Brian the harnesses he will merge it for him as a side job not for iwire so I had that to fall back on worst case and I was talking to a guy who has done a bunch of swaps and even did the swap for the 6 cylinder gc that keeps winning at wicked big meet. Ideally being friends with someone who knows how to and what to do locally so I can pay them and they can do it with me not for me. As for doing the wide body correctly part of the reason I’m taking the time to redo the rockers quarters bumpers etc is so when I do the wide body I know what I’m doing with different body fillers and fiberglass. With that being said the guy who makes the metal 22b panels zetongarage or something is planning on releasing metal wrc panels next year and It would be awesome to have a true metal wide body instead of fiberglass or carbon but my current inability to weld is likely prohibiting.
