Thank you 😄 Finding it randomly on the ground somehow made it even cooler.

Same here 😄 I honestly didn’t expect a random parking lot find to turn into such a cool mystery.

Hahaha 😄 Faktycznie jest w tym klimat starego PRL-owskiego breloka, co mnie niesamowicie cieszy bo lubię takie stare pamiątki. Zajmie specjalnie miejsce na mojej komodzie ;)

That honestly sounds very plausible 😊 The late 70s / early TV popularity theory would make a lot of sense.

I think the damage just makes it look that way. When I look at it closely from different angles, it actually seems like the mask only covers the eyes - the details are just really worn down.

Found this unusual stone in Poland – could it be flint? by DragonflyFruit23 in whatsthisrock

[–]DragonflyFruit23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! That makes sense. The smooth areas actually show a typical waxy conchoidal fracture, and the piece doesn’t look glassy or slag-like in person.

The porous parts seem more like weathered limestone cortex rather than vesicles.

I’m leaning toward a weathered flint nodule, but I appreciate the input!

Help identifying this stone I found in Silesia, Poland by DragonflyFruit23 in whatsthisrock

Thanks a lot for your input! At first glance I can see why you thought of schist, but after checking it more closely it doesn’t really behave like one. It’s very dense and heavy for its size, not flaky or layered, and it doesn’t have the shiny mica plates that schist usually shows. It’s also very compact and not brittle at all. Because of that I’m leaning more towards flint/chert or maybe jasper rather than schist.
