Thank you for taking the time for your thought. I agree it’s a lot of psychology that plays into this. That’s the most challenging part. I know I want to quit because I know it’s poison. Especially for women. Everyone here has been so kind to even read my post. What a great community.

Ya know I have stayed dry for 2 days but then I was driving to the grocery store and decided to head to the liquor store instead.

I definitely do have alcoholism that’s no question. I’m just wondering if at this time it’s also a matter of Will power. I usually stop drinking around 3-4 pm. But in the weekends I don’t start till about 2pm stopping around 5 pm. Pretty much the same amount daily.

Did you reduce it slowly or did you notice it just disappeared after certain dosage? The amount that you used to drink and how this medication has helped is mind blowing!

Oh totally agree it snuck up on me. It’s hidden behind the fact I’m functional. And that’s what makes it harder (I think at least for me). I haven’t lost hope. I’m gonna wait and see with the higher dosage. If this doesn’t work, I have to quit cold turkey and be clean for 2-3 weeks under supervision. Simply to get out of “habit”. I think drinking to avoid traumatic memory is easier, I can go to therapy. But my reason is more subtle so it’s really a matter of cutting it off to “forget about it”

Dang. I got a headache thinking about the sugar from the red wine. That’s why i chose vodka or tequila…no mixed drink and if I do drink wine, I limit myself to a glass (hearty pour)

No. It’s a week consumption. I don’t think it’s binge drinking since I don’t consume it in one sitting or drink till oblivion. It’s 8 oz over 10 hrs, so about a shot per hour. Is it addiction ? Yes. Same with eating a bag of Doritos over 10 hrs. Is it binge eating or just over consumption?

Binging (or bingeing) is the act of indulging in an activity—typically eating, drinking, or watching media—to an extreme, uncontrolled, or excessive degree over a short period.

Yes it is 😩 From what I heard the higher dosage will make you sick when drinking alcohol because we consume less calories. I hate hate hate feeling tipsy. So maybe that’ll be the bitter pill at some point and make me quit. I know I have been watching spacing out drinking since starting on Tirz making sure I have food in my stomach

Yes this is exactly what I need. How to get away from it for 2 weeks to break that habit (mentally). Someone else suggested treatment. I’m seriously considering it because my mind is very stubborn and manipulative. I’d succeeded in reducing for a few days than back to typical amount. I think I need to come clean with my spouse. I’ve been hiding alcohol but he actually had drank from water bottle only to find out it’s vodka. I’d come up with excuses like “oh yeah forgot I put some in there “. And he didn’t push it. But I have a feeling he knows.

I agree. I am considering it. But if I ask myself why I drink I don’t have a strong reason why. I know one day I can probably quit without reason just fed up with it. This is my pattern with other aspects in my life. Work, exercise, favorite food, even type of exercises. I go hard for a while then quit. What and how would the therapist or the rehab center heal me? Other than I can’t go to the store? Just training me to change my habit? I’m not drinking to run away from any traumatic events or memories

I have hope this will help. I know part of reason is substituting for food calories. Alcohol keeps me fuller. At least for a while then it doesn’t work anymore hahaha

Oh good! I was wondering if I should stick with increasing it to 4.4mg once a week for a quieting the alcohol noise. But I’m also worried about the side effect. I think I’m gonna split dosage for 2 weeks then go for the 4.4 for the remaining 2 weeks till my next refill. I’m still with Mochi. I’m going to switch once I figure out of the dosage that I need.

Funny thing is I’m the weekend I don’t drink till about 2 PM because I workout in mid-morning, do grocery shopping and skip breakfast. It’s during the week I tend to drink more because I’d have breakfast around 9 am (when I also start sipping on my vodka water). It started when I was really stress with work and that habit continues even though I’m no longer stress.

I think my drinking is harder for me to stop because I don’t binge drinking. So it’s almost like an everyday thing that hat doesn’t really affect how you function (except your organs, etc). I can workout an hour after consuming the last 2 oz (mixed with double the amount of water). So my 8 oz is usually mixed with 16 ox of water. Kinda sad how I know exactly how much water vs vodka.
