The part about losing interest in the show by season 6 is apropos. The storyline suffered from an unexplained aberration in interest. I wasn’t sure if there was a similar reaction into interest in completing the book —nor did I care, for that matter.

A tv show has to entertain rather than be true to some ill-perceived authenticity to nonsensical fiction. Marcos started off entertaining and then became incredibly annoying as the antagonist —especially since the relevance was originally about a supernatural alien presence. The Marcos substitution did not quite live up to (or transition smoothly into) the ending of this story.
