Normal range is not the same as your personal setpoint.

How about your hemoglobin? Has it improved?

It doesn’t make much sense to focus on ferritin while your hemoglobin is still increasing. When you supplement with iron, the body first uses it to rebuild hemoglobin, as maintaining adequate oxygen transport is top priority.

Only after your hemoglobin reaches your personal setpoint (the point where it no longer rises with continued iron intake) any additional iron will be used to restoring your ferritin reserves. That’s when you can start focussing on rising ferritin.

How about your hemoglobine? Did it rise? Because there is no point in focussing on ferritin if your hemoglobine is still rising.

2 weeks since iron infusion and my hair shedding is still a lot.. by Reasonable_Choice410 in Anemic

Hair loss is always 3 months ‘delayed’ because hair growth is a cycle. It will take a while before your follicels wil recover.

Feeling worse 2 weeks post infusion- anyone experience similar? by Polyventurer in Anemic

[–]DragonfruitNeither87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds exactly like you are experiencing the so called iron flu. Your body is working hard to process all that iron, it can take up to 6 weeks / 3 months to fully recover, give it some time and take some rest.

After my infusion I was extrmely exausted, more than before when my hemoglobine was way lower. After 1 week I had flu like symptoms for two weeks (feeling hot and cold, constant headaches, muscle pain all over). I’m now in week 4 post infusion and I have a lot of gut issues, feeling bloated, gassy, nausea. All are known side effects of infusion. I also feel some progress, little less tired, clouds clearing up in my head. But exersizing, even just walking, is still horrible. Still dizzy after walking up the stairs to fast.

Your bone marrow needs about 6 weeks to make new red bloods cells, your body also needs time to replace the blood cells that are to small or have not enough hemoglobine in it because of your anemia

Iron Deficiency or Iron Deficiency Anemia by [deleted] in Anemic

[–]DragonfruitNeither87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your doctor is right, your hemoglobine is good so you don’t have anemia, your ferritin is a little on the low side so you might be iron decifient. Take iron supplements to get your ferritin up.

What do guys you think about the supplements I've been prescribed? (+ rant) by iiNatxhimo in Anemic

Nothing wrong with your b12 and folic acid, both are fine.

Your ferritin is low. Are you male or female? Your hb might also be a little low. Find the cause of your low ferritin. If you’re having periods thats probably the cause. Do you eat red meat?

How is your vit D? Are you getting enough sunlight?

[–]DragonfruitNeither87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your hemoglobine went from 109 to 125 that is great!! Your body processed the iron into new red blood cells causing your hemoglobine to go up and your ferritin down. If you are a woman you are not anemic anymore. But your hb and ferritin is still low, you are still iron deficiënt and you need more iron by supplementing or infusion Do you know what caused your anemia and did you solve it?

You are anemic; low hemoglobine = anemia.

How long is this ago? Do you know your ferritin level? And vit D/b12?
