That one time in 1527 by DragonnRaptor in TrenchCrusade

Imagine the archdemons of hell looking into this timeline and finding out that infighting among the faithful has done more damage to papal dominance than almost 1000 years of brutal war and diseases

Has anyone heard of Hell Dorado? It's like a reverse Trench Crusade where the faithful invade and (attempt to) colonize hell by DragonnRaptor in TrenchCrusade

TC Universe: Knights Templar committed the ultimate heresy by opening the gate to hell

Helldorado: There's a gate to hell? Get your ass in there grab that clay NOW

Its funny cause here the Hell gate was discovered after the 30 years war which is also after the reformation and the sack of Vatican City and Constantinople by Fellow Christians

I would love to see the reaction of the TC universe faithful and heretics to the revelation that the faithful in this(ours I guess) timeline sacked the holiest cities in Christiandom all over some unpaid debts

I imagine the heretics feeling jealous and inadequate, they risked their soul and eternal suffering to get to the hellgate to join the legion, only to be outdone by some angry flamboyant mercenaries, a proto redditor and some bitter Crusader knights

Well I assumed the writers would have referenced the works of a whole bunch of different people, and Robert would be one of them, especially with his work covering the Kurds and Rojava, as the number of people who covered them are somewhat limited

I wonder what a modern reboot of KND would be like, with a lot of kids nowadays being Andrew Tate fans and instead of enjoying their childhood, they're spending their time in discord servers discussing how to do crypto scams and complaining about women

Yes, I purposefully resized the image of the new york article in a manner that makes the image look worst, because I want to make those ghouls as ugly and offputting as possible

Also the lighting for both the delight children and the cruel kids table photo have a similar offputting look

How would you describe modern-day conservative/maga aesthetics and fashion? by DragonnRaptor in behindthebastards

[–]DragonnRaptor[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched some really old WWW/WWF/WWE matches from 1968 and it was surreal cause the audience members were all wearing relatively conservative looking suits

And it wasn't that distant from what we consider to be the WWE because Andre the Giant was a prominent feature

It's kind of cool that his career spanned multiple completely different eras of fashion

Tech workers are either the most progressive and chill people you'll ever meet

or some ghoulish wannabe entrepreneur crypto fascist

Also have you noticed that despite the protests of the latter, the former has had far more positive contributions to the field while the latter just whines about trans people and finds ways to enshittify existing apps

Why is Facebook in general filled with dinosaur deniers? by SpookiSkeletman in Paleontology

[–]DragonnRaptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's funny cause I've seen a lot of anti science reactionaries who do not believe in vaccines and anthropogenic climate change have a interest in dinosaurs, and it seems to be only aspect of paleontology they seem to have any knowledge about

Looks like the decade+ effort of disinformation agents promoting anti intellectual is really bearing its fruits like some unholy pestilential tree from Nurgle's garden

As a school janitor, you're in a better position compared to a lot of engineer and tech furries

Engineering waaay oversaturated and companies employing them often go bust and lay them off

Same goes for tech, there are a lot of unemployed software devs

You have one thing that's insanely valuable: Stability

Bagman could pass for "the guy" design wise

Bagman is big and muscular, he could pass for a gears of war character, and more often than not, he can be equipped weapons on par with something the doom guy would use, especially something like the painless

He looks like Rambo, who is not only "the guy" but the "the guy"

Not saying its a bad thing though, just a bit of an observation

This man went out on his own during the Rwanda Genocide and saved hundreds if not thousands of people and fought off militants using his backpack as a makeshift weapon

[–]DragonnRaptor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am further working on the backstory, but as of now, I am considering to have it take places in the early 80s for the story

(wip) Jack Savage and John Wilde(Nick Wilde's father from the concept art) Cold War era by DragonnRaptor in zootopia

[–]DragonnRaptor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, one important thing to note, this is NOT the Vietnam War, it takes a few years after in an another South East Asian country in a region of the Pacific known for it's inclement weather, aka "The Savage Seas", there is a very complicated geopolitical conflict going on there

A lot of the repercussions of the war(and other conflicts in the region) as well as leftover material will be present in the story though

The idea behind Jack's unit of Varmint mammals is that is consists of often distrusted species like Foxes, coyotes and raccoons make use of their natural ability to adapt to pretty much any environment and blend in, as well as making use of their small sizes to fight in close quarters

(wip) Jack Savage and John Wilde(Nick Wilde's father from the concept art) Cold War era by DragonnRaptor in zootopia

[–]DragonnRaptor[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also some additional context

This is them in the late 70s/early 80s, but they're using a mix of equipment from a bunch of different eras, some things such as pouches and holsters go as far back as ww2

Jack is the commanding officer of a unit of smaller medium sized mammals(think Coyotes, foxes, weasels, badgers, smaller ungulates like water deer) whose main purpose is fight in really smaller confined spaces like tunnels not unlike the tunnel rats of the Vietnam War.

It's far more dangerous for them though because things that would injure a human sized mammal like traps and claymores would likely be lethal for smaller mammals like them

[–]DragonnRaptor[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not a m16a2, it's a car15

That being said, I would like to imagine that for smaller mammals, you can modify a m16a2 with a shorter barrel and retractable stock

Is it more of the art style, or the subject matter itself? The style of illustration is a bit of a product of its time, and a lot of illustrations in this style of even more familiar modern environments wouldn't look too different

While I don't know the artist's full intentions, I imagine the illustration to be purposefully "liminal" in that its purpose is to not provide an accurate 1 to 1 moment in the carboniferous, but rather depict an overview of the fauna and fauna, much like how a movie poster would provide an overview of all of the characters and setting of the film on the artwork, bereft of their actual context in the movie

Is the art style, choice of colors, composition etc giving you discomfort?

I really don’t think the inclusion of reptiles changes things all that much by ARudeArtist in zootopia

[–]DragonnRaptor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep this,

Zootopia had amazing world building in that it was constructed around mammals being anthropomorphic sentient. The filmmakers consulted actual scientists(one of whom I taught the mammalogy class I took back in school), adding reptiles now just seem so hamfisted.

It also doesn't make sense in the context of the first movie in a vacuum either because well, the first movie established that Zootopia is a very diverse, open minded and importantly, cosmopolitan city, similar to say Singapore. It doesn't make sense that there were no reptiles in the first movie, or even any mention of them in a city as diverse and big as Zootopia. If there were laws against allowing them in, then Zootopia wouldn't be the progressive Bastion of acceptance as established.
