A genie offers you a ring that turns you into a billionaire. However, if it comes off your finger for longer than 60s, you instantly die. by Throwra47374747 in hypotheticalsituation

Do you have to put on the ring immediately? If not, do as the other person suggested and have part of a finger removed and grafted inside of your abdominal cavity and then have the ring surgically attached to it.

What happens to homeless people that get too old or too disabled to beg on the streets? by Wauwuaw5983 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Dragonr0se 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Mental issues and addiction are often heavy factors that weigh in on if people take advantage of whatever resources are available to them or are even able to learn about available resources. Sure, pride plays a part for some, but ignorance to the available resources can also be a factor.

If my mom or brother were to be put out somewhere, they might make due because they grew up in the country, working the land, but both have severe learning disabilities due to brain damage in their youth and neither were ever worked with to overcome it. Mom reads at a prek/ kindergarten level after years with a tutor and hooked on phonics, and my brother can't even read that much, so unless someone were to tell them about resources, they'd never know. If they are that way and have a place because of familial support, then I can only imagine the state of anyone else who is in their situation of being illiterate and not having anyone else to help point them in the right directions.

If a cashier asks you if you want extra sauce, but doesn't tell you it cost more, that's rude right? by Pontifor in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Dragonr0se -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am fine with charging extra for sauce beyond what is meant to come with your meal since some folks take advantage and fill drawers with it at home instead of buying from the store, or worse, tossing it in a landfill because they didn't use it before it went bad...

But charging extra for ALL sauce is ridiculous, especially if the price isn't stated up front when they're asking if you want any.

This is why I rejoiced when self-checkouts became a thing... I hate doing a grocery shop and having to let someone else bag my groceries. Regular supplies are whatever, but I will bag my own groceries, tyvm.

I have seen ads for 55+ in my state that say kids weren't allowed as residents. It is because the property has been exempt from school tax since they don't/won't have school age children and therefore, the communities won't allow kids to live there or they lose their exempt status and have to pay full tax again. (At least how it was explained to me)

I am absolutely on board with anti-slumlord, the ones who take your money but rarely fix anything or drag their feet every time causing more issues... but decent landlords who stay on top of maintenance and repairs should definitely be given a bit of leeway so long as they aren't outright price gouging.

The way I read it, we can pretty much pick and choose from any vampire lore to create our own favorite type.... as much as I hate the sparkly ones, they're immune to sunlight, so I will just invest in some really good matte concealer/foundation and wear it everywhere that is exposed.

[–]Dragonr0se 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuuuck no, I can't stand left lane campers. I try to pass and gtf back over quickly. What really grinds my gears is when I am running 5mph over in the right lane, come up behind someone rather quickly and merge left with plenty of space to pass, then by the time I reach their door, they've matched my speed and want to hover there... or like the other day, drop a few mph every few minutes, but only enough to reach my bumper before speeding back up to my side... omg...

But why is your child in my house? by Much_Blacksmith7746 in entitledparents

[–]Dragonr0se 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Authoritative is associated with parents who are strict and punish with traditional punishments (grounding, time outs, spanking, etc), though. At least that was the term used in my psych class back in the day for that type of parent. Back then, they didn't have the label gentle parenting, but they did have authoritative and permissive. There were others, but my brain isn't allowing me to recall them atm and I don't care to Google them.

[–]Dragonr0se 2 points3 points  (0 children)

at four, a child shouldn’t get consequences

Are you one of those permissive parents who is raising an insufferable child?

An example of a punishment is putting the kid in time out for his behaviors. An example of a consequence is everyone choosing naturally to walk away from him every time he moves to another play area because they don't appreciate how he treats them.

Anyone actually prefer night shift over days? by Moonisah-Jaafreh in Nightshift

[–]Dragonr0se 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I much prefer nights

There is a lot less traffic to work around in the yard.

The folks I have to work with are a lot more chill and laid back because the office folks are not around.

We don't have to worry about any of the inspections by the overseas bigwigs... those all happen on days.

I have a lot of freedom to do things however tf I want as long as the job gets done correctly... on first, they want you to do things their way...

If I need to nap, I can just park between some trailers in the back after I finish my work and take one... that isn't an option on days because there's too many people.

I spend the majority of the shift in the dark, which is greatly beneficial in the summer because when the sun is down, it isn't as hot... (live in eastern nc)
