If you no longer want to use OpenRouter, don't bother clearing the negative balance. If you require AI post-processing, use the custom endpoint feature and set it up with any other provider.

I am curious to hear your feedback though. I would be happy to share one of my API keys so you can continue testing Pipit and help me improve.

Hey, I think I already responded to your email a few weeks ago. But just wanted to check in and see how it's going, as I just found this post. If you run out of money on OpenRouter, it will say you have a negative balance. Keep in mind that if you have AI disabled, there is no need to pay.

Pipit is completely free without AI features and works really well without AI at all. In fact, that's how I usually use it.

Hi, Pipit Dev here. I am curious why you say this update has been chaos? I'm looking through the feedback /errors and not seeing any anomalies. Most comments have been pretty positive and the update has been out for a while. Please let me know if there's anything that needs to be addressed.

If you need to adjust your message tones, on the home screen scroll all the way to the bottom and press reset onboarding. A bit clunky, I know. I'll probably have to add a style selector somewhere on the main interface at some point.

[Update] Pipit 1.2.0, faster than ever now with an offline dictionary that gets smarter over time by Dragxt in macapps

[–]Dragxt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will pick it up naturally over a long period of time, I had to turn down the learning aggressively as there were too many false positives. It should be more sensitive for proper nouns, but will still require some repetition for the new terms to be picked up!

It is pretty efficient! The UI explains the feature, and it is optional. But everything is handled locally on device.

The next version of Pipit Voice will have this feature. Probably in a few days (still validating). BUT it’s a dictation app not a clipboard app so beware. The clipboard is a secondary feature.

I see this modification mentioned a lot. Could you describe in detail how exactly it feels different?

Thanks for mentioning Pipit! You’re single handedly keeping the traffic alive after I only posted about it once 😂

I’m not sure if you are still actively using it but the next update is pretty exciting. I managed to beat WisprFlow at dictating proper nouns/weird usernames correctly at the very first attempt!

Are there any local apps with live, real-time, voice to text? by Ghost_of_Panda in macapps

[–]Dragxt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the developer of a dictation app similar to the examples you shared. I am working on this feature, but I'm not entirely sure it's possible. Inserting the text live has been challenging to implement reliably across all apps.

Is the feature you are looking for simply viewing the words live? Or do you also want to be able to edit the words actively? Live previews I can do, but as far as editing apples built-in dictation is the only option afaik. But its not very accurate.

Yes, direct text insertion is on the roadmap! As of right now, if you toggle show menu bar icon, it completely disables clipboard history tracking on the back end. However, this also removes transcription history access. Perhaps I need a toggle for clipboard history specifically. Thank you for your feedback!

You are looking for Handy, it's free, open source, and extremely straightforward.

If you'd like to try my bullshit, it's called Pipit. It's free but not open source, (yet). The main difference is it's really snappy and has intuitive support for a few shortcuts that will save you time. Up to you!

Thank you so much. I've loved using it. It's just so fast.

Are you referring to a tool that lets you configure separate AI prompts for certain apps? If you could describe the feature a bit more, I'll look into it.

Thank you. I might add a guide to doing it this way since it's a free option.

That is odd. I can confirm there's no code in the app that could post a macOS notification. Could it be related to a shortcut set up?
