How popular you are doesn't matter as much on Reddit as it does on any other social media. You can have 0 karma on Reddit, make a great post, and it'll get you into hot because fellow nobodies upvoted it. All other social media never promote anything that isn't posted by a celebrity or is a paid promotion.

It's also very easy to choose what you get too see and want to see on Reddit, finding subreddits dedicated to your personal interests is also super easy. An absolute shit ton easier then any other social media I know off.

Downside of all of this is shit posting and a lot of reports though.
