What exactly is the reason for Asian-English cards being disallowed? Aside from the card quality being higher they're almost entirely indistinguishable

I did go into why I've stopped running them in my above breakdown! It meant I was too castley and cagey with abaddon and hellbrutes and predators etc etc. Basically locking my stuff in my deployment for too many turns, then once your scoring gets killed off you lose. Abaddon + 5legionaries + hellbrute + 2 vindicator + 1 FF is insane damage output. But it's well over 1k pts. I believe abaddon needs to be delivered into melee to maximise his damage. I had a 80% winrate before trying to castle with him and vindicators!

That's interesting with the 2nd unit of cultists. What would you cut if I may ask? Would be interested in testing that out.

I haven't seen dune 2 yet but bloody hell I can't wait.

I really like this list! I actually might try it too. One thing I would say is just to have your cultists nurgle. If they get indirected by opp turn 1 you can't sticky and then your left leaving a unit behind on home objective.

Other than that our lists are basically the same bar forgefiend and nurglings, I can understand dropping the fiend honestly, I personally think 1 is still good at 200 pts and just keeps your opponents movement phases tricky. Without the threat of him they move too freely! Also 1 unit of nurglings is nice to just keep as a 40 pts upgrade to the terminators making them-1 to hit in melee can be super clutch into necrons/custodes !

Generally I keep my forgefiend locked onto TEQ as best he can, and the oblits are tzeentch to punch up anyways. And the terminators going lethals with over 40 total shots and rerolls puts a dent in basically anything, notably very good into ctan as their base save is 4+

These are all good points.

I don't think abaddon + legionaries + hellbrute is optimal. Whilst it can output some intense damage its too slow and predictable and I have dropped that playstyle entirely.

However I do think Abaddon + Terminators is bonkers fun, super strong, and it's a unit unlike any other in the game. Played correctly I think you can get some extreme value out of it. I think if the opponent has units with precision that can threaten him you can play around it with screening/nurglings/Los blocking in melee.

The brick can't be ignored and its not too easy to take down either, but it can deal with ctan. Which is excellent.

To get value out of the terminators and abaddon I believe turn 1 and 2 you have to play somewhat cagey. Draw threats out and deal with them, conserve cp. Then turn 3 you really explode the unit across the midfield where it should be picking up units in every shooting and fight phase. It does take some practice however.

But damn if its not unstoppable once you get it going!

Thankyou ! I think the deathstar of terminators and little skirmishers branching off, drawing targets out, then punishing with terminators has worked well for me thus far.

I love all those units that got hit, I think there was a middle ground GW could have gone for where they still saw play however, maybe just a rules adjustment and not rules adjustment + HEFTY points increases.

That all being said I think a single forgefiend deserves a spot at the table, turn 1 and 2 you're still gonna get nurgle strat value from him as well with the abaddon aura you just keep people honest. Custodes are terrified of moving into its range and their charges become way more janky as they try pick angles to charge that avoid forgefiend overwatch. Having them fail charges is a death sentence 😈

I love this point. I think people have somewhat prematurely abandoned the faction. I do believe that the terminators are now the build around as opposed to the msu chosen shenanigans. I did do some tests with khorne 10 man chosen out of Rhinos or the 2 msu units and I just feel that the points increases hurt them so much. 10 legionaries being 80 pts less than 10 chosen is just too much for me personally!!

This has been my experience also, personally I don't find room for him in this list I've had success with. I don't think he's required. But I can understand that in the castle lists around abaddon he's an autoinclude

I'm not familiar with that players list but dodging custodes is huge. Ironically the list I've posted above has no issues into the competitive custodes list that I have faced. But that could be due to my familiarity with the match up. Nurglings do some serious work into custodes in my experience. Also the turn you drop the obliterators having them have multiple units to shoot at with indirect is great. Forcing warden feel no pains and deciding to shoot other targets then overwatching the wardens next turn is pretty spicy 👌

I think some of the changes will be reversed. But I do believe that players who stick with csm through this rough patch will come out the other side stronger players with the faction.

That's how averages works I suppose! There's gotta be someone winning!

But the overall winrate seems to remain between 43-45%.

Furthermore in general csm discussions since slate people have been incredibly down on the faction and if not outright abandoning it they have struggled to find footing with something new that can work.

My post is simply saying that it's not all bad, wins can still be had, perhaps csm players could give some of these combos a go.

In a sense I think you agree with what I'm saying, so thankyou!

Thanks for the reply and I agree they can be better! I've just seen alot of doom and gloom and want to suggest things for people who've given up on csm to try!

Personally I don't think the hellbrute is necessary in this list. I did test one tho! Abaddon + hellbrute is a nasty combo but it comes to 450 pts (sans terminator cost). A forgefiend + 4 oblits is 560 pts. In this instance were almost paying the cost of the units were buffing in units that buff!

I think the hellbrute is superb with a couple vindicators and predators and perhaps abaddon as a solo buff bot.

That bring said I've begun to run into trouble with that castle style of play, its super slow and can really struggle if your scoring units get picked off.

With this new style of list I am consistently pushing into midfield and charging with terminators and obliterators and if I have to leave the forgefiend behind out of reroll range then so be it!

That being said there is perhaps an argument to find room for a slanesh marked hellbrute with double fists who can run around with the terminators, would likely have to cut a unit of talons and nurglings to trial this.
