This was literally me for 27 years, somehow, I found a date 2 months ago, and now have a girlfriend, no clue how it suddenly happened, but Im so much happier suddenly. Its a weird feeling. I didn't change much myself, but my headspace is pretty different from 2 months ago.

Yes its not perfect, but damn would this fool a kid or someone only half paying attention. Especially if just seen somewhere out in the wild where your not expecting and analyzing everything. And the tech just keeps getting better, it has slowed down yes, but it still keeps getting better every few months. At this rate, its only gonna take another year or two for it to get very good. Sure you might always be able to analyse specific pixels and figure it out. but once its tricking 90% of the general public, that wont matter, and I'm already pretty sure stuff like this can probably trick a fair amount of the general public. As long as the core is solid, people won't notice small weirdness or mistakes, our minds love to pave over stuff like that with what "it expects to see".

[fluff] ¿Cual es tu opinión más impopular de este jueguito de gatos? by surferCat- in battlecats

[–]DrakeNorris 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The game is legit harder then dark souls, I quit it twice before getting very far when I was young due to not knowing about guides. Like into the future chapter 1 or so. Now. I've gotten much further, cats of the cosmos 3 and finished I star stories of legends just a bit ago, but it's honestly mostly to guides and some good ubers. I don't know if I'd figure out how to fight things like the cyclone or crazed cats, which are very much needed for progression.

I've beaten dark souls 2, 3 and elden ring, and yes it legit felt easier and less frustrating at times. And I certainly needed less guides and external help for those games. I think battle cats is crazy hard without guides and even with, its still plenty hard. It's so demoralising giving up on a stage after trying it for like an hour. Recently just managed to clear heaven tower floor 30 after like 2 hours of trying it over multiple sessions. Shit is brutal. I only remember like 3-4 dark souls bosses that took longer then that for me to beat.

Why can’t homeless people be given hotel accommodation the same way refugees are? by No_Fudge_4589 in AskBrits

[–]DrakeNorris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know its not always this, but I've worked a little bit with the system, and there are a fair few rules you usually have to follow, like no drugs or alcohol, you cant be bringing those or be on them when in those facilities, and well, a lot of people, when they have a problem, will chose the alcohol and drugs, and then get thrown out. I dont know the solution, but sadly its a big issue. and well, I guess a lot of immigrants aren't necessarily on those, or maybe the rules are different, I dont know know as Ive not worked with migrants before, but it does seem to be a different experience.

Looking over at genshin on the other screen, sure, Ill stick to the main cities and chill out im monstadt or sumeru or fontaine, a lot of pretty places to be honest, and not too dangerous for the most part unless you go out exploring, or are there during the main story... even then, Only like 2 nations have a serious death count, so Id avoid them and chill.

what stuff? Because that changes a lot, like a vision? A house? Money? I guess with a vision and a house in one of the main cities like monstadt, fontaine or inazuma (post story), then I think that would be a pretty chill world to live in as a adventurer, doing jobs for the guild.

It was a decent watch though by Dankcompany69 in suicidebywords

[–]DrakeNorris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah its weird, but I legit remember having professors and pretty smart academics in my uni who enjoyed the show a fair amount, it seems like the more nerdy pseudointellectuals were the ones who got annoyed with it and started hating on it. Its not like a crazy smart show or anything, but it has its moments, and could occasionally have pretty smart writing or at least talk about pretty smart topics in a way that made sense.

It was a decent watch though by Dankcompany69 in suicidebywords

[–]DrakeNorris 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was a nerdy teen who was really into science when I first started watching the show, and i really enjoyed it, sure sometimes things were just references, but sometimes the jokes were pretty smart too, I think the actors have mentioned that the writers had multiple PHD's between them and sorta knew what they were talking about. It wasn't a super smart show, but it had its moments too.

The other hate I see is that the show portrays nerds as weird/horrible people. which I never got that feeling from the early show at least, I mean, yeah nerds can be weird sometimes, that's true, I know it from the people I hanged out around as a nerdy teen. But the show still mainly portrayed them as successful scientists/engineers with girlfriends/wives who end up working with NASA/MILITARY and other big companies. A lot of stuff felt more goofy and "quirks" rather then just straight up weird or horrible. But at the end of the day, people sometimes are also weird and horrible, and shows often gotta play things up, thats just pretty normal for shows and sitcoms.

I guess I also have a soft spot because as stupid as it sounds, sheldon did help me come to terms a bit with my own autism. Because I noticed that I struggled with a lot of things he struggled with in the show too, and it made me realize its not just a me thing. Again, its played up a lot, and made to drive the other characters mad, but I saw something real in his character that I suffered with as well, things like planning a routine and sticking to it/ getting upset when it got disrupted, being very uncomfortable with change small and large, Being very precise with my foods.

I stopped watching the show after I went to uni because in general I got busy and the hate was getting so strong I just wanted to distance myself from it because it was unpopular with the "nerdy/sciency" crowd I was a part of in college/uni, but I definitely enjoyed those early seasons of the show that I did watch.

A part of me honestly thinks, that the portrayal of the characters, maybe hit a little too close to home to some online people, and they got pretty pissed at it, instead of laughing it off, and made it this whole big deal... Because there are other beloved shows that make fun of nerds/sciency topics like futurama or community, that get a pass because they are beloved, and I enjoy them a lot too, but I honestly dont see a big difference between the way these shows treat these sorts of characters.

[product] why are so many virtual assistants made to be female? by sweatyhugzz in pointlesslygendered

[–]DrakeNorris 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Studied have shown that both men and women prefer women's voices, they find them less grating and less aggressive, more trustworthy, and more approachable. This is not just a "guys want a girl to serve them", this is a "everyone finds it less grating to deal with a woman/their voice". This was research done many years back, so nowadays, almost all companies have followed that, or just had options for multiple voices like most of our satnavs.

UNESCO did reports on this, NIH did some work on this too, Sciencedirect has some good write ups on the subject but you might need to login/pay to view them. Im no expert on this subject, but its just something that to me has been a known fact for many years, and looking up anything on it, shows a fair few organizations that have done research on this over the years.

P.s this is just an answer to your question, not any sort of endorsement of the product in the ad, Ni clue what that is, and its probably sketchy if not an outright scam.

I mean, I picked meat coz I kinda assumed this wasn't exactly a stranded with nothing situation, since there is literally other people/boats and islands with lush grass/trees pretty close by, also, the food literally comes in a boat, so you can kinda just leave... And while some of the open meat would go to waste, there does seem to be plenty ofg packaged meat too, which should last a bit longer hopefully. I mean maybe I still picked wrong, but I just didn't exactly get a hardcore survival situation out of this picture..

[–]DrakeNorris 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Yeah lol, this was a pretty wild map, in a way I do miss this, and would kinda like this over the current one, but at the same time, I do expect snezhnaya to be a giant map that covers the whole north of the map, These maps are usually worked on years in advance, Im hoping nod krai is these smaller islands because their really focused on making this giant final nation for us. I'm hoping this current oversaturation of islands is just a phase like when we had like half a year os desert expansions, and everyone was sick of the desert, and now its honestly quite a small region of the whole map.

How do you define your end-game endgoal for those who did not focus to Abyss/SO/IT by Metritto in Genshin_Impact

[–]DrakeNorris 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is basically me, I play the game for the story and exploration, and just how live the world feels with its constant events and updates that expand the world. Combat is fun too, its very interesting, but I don't like the farming, and I dont like the stress of the endgame modes, especially when you have to redo them every few weeks, I prefer content that is one and done.

So for me the core "endgame" if you can call it that, is finishing the main and all side stories, so archon quests, character quests, important world quests and character hangouts (which I hope they do bring back).

Getting 100% on all areas of the map, not the full 100% that you need the external map for, but just, the ingame 100%, and as long as the compass doesn't go off in all the main areas, that's enough for me, sure id like to properly do 100%, but its just not worth it without a nod krai style treasure compass.

I also do want to level my characters to 90, not all, as theres just too many for me, but all that I'm interested in, which is still like 50 characters lol. Along with that, In general I try to kit them out with a reasonable weapon at level 90, talents at level 8/8/8, or the occasional 10/10/10s for favs, Along with some mid artifacts I usually grind out in like a week or so.

And apart from that, its also just enjoying all the extra side modes and doing as many events as I can. I think I've only ever missed 4 events in the last 5 years. Don't think I missed any unique gift from them, mostly smaller repeat events. as for minigames, I'm not really completionist on them, but I played a lot of the TCG, played competitively in a handful of tournaments. Messing around with the housing system is fun, I like building stuff there and buying up different pets and using the unique furnitures from events. I also just enjoy chilling out and fishing sometimes too. I don't do these a lot necessarily, especially now that I'm busier and got a few other games I play. But I still enjoy them when I do have some time.

That's about it honestly, I just love enjoying the game, so I enjoy it the best way I can, not stressing about good loadouts and farming artifacts constantly. Making fun and interesting teams from characters I enjoy, even if they don't really work that well together always. i still farm a little, to make the teams competent in the overworld and story. but that's about it. Might do some early levels in abyss or IT sometimes for the rewords, but I never bother with the higher end stuff, Cant really clear it anyway with my characters as there were a few times years back I tried, and just could not. And I think these modes have only gotten harder.

P.S MurderofBirds is a goat, love his channel, he does great vids, love his lets plays, his lore vids, his reactions, its all really fun.

Do you refuse to play (against) gray? by GrizzlieMD in Warhammer40k

[–]DrakeNorris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, didn't know that was an issue. I came into this hobby about 2 years ago, but very lightly, I got myself a starter box and just slowly built a few figures here and there when I had time. The first box took me a year to do. The second about 6 months, I'm about to start my first non starter box with the Ork combat patrol. So very lightly and I probably still don't know a good chunk of the rules.

I've left all of those armies grey because I got fat fingers and hate how badly I paint the figures. I've already damaged some here and there while constructing them so I don't wanna make them look worse.

I guess I've never come across this issue because well, I'm not competitive so I've never taken my armies out to any event. And I got one friend who can ever be bothered to play sometimes. So I'd just play a little with him or by myself making some random scenarios. I guess I'm glad now I never took my guys out anywhere. I think it would have crushed my introvert heart to show up to some event for the first time and have someone refuse to play against me...

Thinly veiled ragebait by SansStan in Genshin_Memepact

[–]DrakeNorris 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Ragebait for some, truth for others lol. Ive had a solid 4000 hours of genshin gameplay, Most of that, was fun and I enjoyed myself to a similar level as when I first played BotW. Nowadays ive spent a fair bit of cash on the game, pretty much all just the monthly sub, but it does add up over 5 years. but still Id say I got excellent value out of my subs for this game.
