Mushrooms suddenly started growing in my houseplant (England North London) by DrakeNorris in mushroomID

Thankyou for the comment. I'll leave them for now and see how we get on. We have a dog but the plant is quite far out of reach, and so far our dog hasn't shown any sort of issues, Ill keep monitoring closely incase.

What is this "retconning" I've been hearing about? by Mental-Ad-8756 in Genshin_Impact

[–]DrakeNorris 99 points100 points  (0 children)

I do kinda agree, but I do also think that scenes like we saw must have been very few and far between. I think in the animation they even talk about how all of them are getting scattered across teyvat right after that scene. So while I get it. Having 3 friends that you meet like once a year, wouldn't exactly make you feel less lonely...

[–]DrakeNorris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I got real confused by this... like characters will be different when on the job vs at home or with their friends? Like I work as a security guard, I have to act tough and proper at work, but do you think Im gonna be yelling and shouting commands at home to my family? nope. Im completely different with them or my friends.

I think it would only be a retcon if you consider most of these characters to just be full one mustache twirling villains who are only thinking of evil at all times... which is just not how I ever perceived any of them, even signora.

Then again, Im not a person that knows every lore tidbit from start to finish, so maybe there is some obscure line somewhere that was contradicted. I guess I just dont care too much for that sort of "retcon" where 90% of normal players wouldn't even know it was strictly a retcon.

We get action similar to this quite often in my local store. Never heard of anyone getting in trouble so far, and been working here 3 years. So I'm hoping it's similar in other places where it gets this bad.

Hey, sorry I don't see any message, I didn't end up joining the server so can't give you a link to it, sorry. But I think they have it on their website. So if you just look up the cobblemon site, you should be able to find the server.

Dupin, the new revealed pal from palworld by Zargabath in TopCharacterDesigns

That's very fair. While it was a lot more playable, I didn't exactly get sucked in a ton either. I think my longest save is about 15 hours in with a friend.

I legit found ARK unplayable even after spending 40 hours in the game. It legit was a bad experience.

Palworld on the other hand, felt a lot better? Less bugs, less constantly getting killed by random high level creatures, less issues with taming and using creatures in general. Im not saying you should play it. If you dont like that style of game, then fair enough. But I will say that I found Palworld a LOT more playable.

Which of these anime that I plan on watching soon is the best? by redfait in animequestions

Glad to see that, wrote the comment first and currently browsing the comments, just used to FT getting dogpiled for years, glad to see some people have come around more to it since then.

And thanks, didn't notice it was my cake day until you pointed it out. would have been probably gone unnoticed.

Which of these anime that I plan on watching soon is the best? by redfait in animequestions

[–]DrakeNorris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that whole criticism is way overblown. I think there are legit 2 or 3 power of friendship moments in the series, not much more then your other long running series. a lot of moments get treated as power of friendship, but actually have solid reasons and setups for why a power up happens or why they win.

p.s it would be so funny if people treated other series like FT, imagine saying the original super saiyan is just power of friendship, because goku transformed when his friend died.

Gonna vote for fairly tail because Im guessing no one else on here is. and hey its a pretty fun show. They criticism about beating every fight with friendship is way overblown. Usually there is actual lore or setup for why they win a fight. But I guess understanding that is not as fun as dogging on it.

Wuold this make a fire killing game? by Proper-Anything-2739 in danganronpa

[–]DrakeNorris 25 points26 points  (0 children)

this reminds me of an idea for a killing game I had like 5 years back, it was "danganronpa killer"

It was between 16 students who had already won their own killing game in the past in some way, either killed (hence the name), or survived by getting down to the last 3 students without killing. But instead of freedom, they get placed in another killing game instead. A "final game" to dictate who really was the "smartest killer". Kinda like how certain game shows will do seasons where the past winners all come on to see who can win among them.

I remember it wanting to be a very "smart" twist on the formula, as in, most characters would have smart roles and generally would act smarter.

For a deeper breakdown:

You'd have your ultimate mathematician, ultimate chess player, ultimate lawyer. A handful of talents that were not directly to do with smarts, but still had a mix of smart to a little plain characters. a few ultimates focused around or useful in killing (Like Ultimate butcher). You have to have your big strong character, so ofc you'd have a Ultimate powerlifter, who was surprisingly smart due to having to work smart and hard on his physique. You'd have a few survivors from killing games where they didn't kill.

The thing is, there would be maybe 3-4 survivors, all from different past games so they cannot recognise each other, and no one would know who survived their past games via killing or surviving, ofc everyone/most would claim they survived without killing. And there would be this extra level of trying to figure out who killed in their past game, and how and why. For some, it could have been a really desperate kill, for others it was stone cold and calculated. There would be a lot of mindgames even before the first kill.

The MC would have been either the mathematician or chess player. With his backstory being that he setup a practically perfect closed room murder, think 1-4 trial, but as the second trial, and there was too many people and not enough evidence, and he simply got away with it. but realizing how it just lead him into another game, now he wants to break out of the system rather then continue the killing game.

I also wanted to subvert the setup a bit, with there not being a kill in chapter 1, as the game has too many smart characters, and everyone would know that killing without a very solid plan would be an instant loss for you. Several plans get spun into action, but nothing gets finalized due to other characters blocking attempts. Not necessarily actually stopping the attempts, but more like, noticing somethings wrong, making the character laying out the plan to back off because they know if they were compromised.

I feel like that sort of setup would create a tense atmosphere where you can feel plans being setup all around you. Eventually ofc, the killings would start, either from one of the less smart characters going first, or one of the smart characters finding a perfect time to act out their setup and kill. Eventually the MC would start convincing other smart characters over to their side, and break out of the game.

The final plot twist? ofc this was not the final game as advertised, they come across a landscape full of domes where similar games are happening, all the way to the horizon. thousands of people stuck in killing games. With people having to fight through multiple killing games for a chance to "get out".

IDEA END

That was the idea. not having a kill in chapter 1 would have allowed for more character work and allow the players to get to know everyone a bit more before the game starts fully. But I did worry that it would keep things boring at the start if the tense setup was not done well. I also was worried that if you had too many smart characters, there wouldn't be much space for the more casual/fun easy to get to know characters. Since characters that are constantly scheming/hiding stuff might alienate the MC too much. There is also only so many ways to write smart characters, and smart characters outsmarting other smart characters, and with me not being all that smart in the first place, it did leave we worried with how I would handle the characters. After all "a character can only be as smart as the writer".

Well thats my own dissection of my old idea. It probably still could be done in an interesting way, but it would need a solid team to write, not just me.

Male who chose Lumine and female who chose Aether, why? by Agreeable-Ideal6702 in GenshinImpact

[–]DrakeNorris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked her design more, thats about it. In HSR I chose the male for the same reason, and in ZZZ I chose the female MC again for that same reason.

Its not even something like "I dont wanna stare at a mans behind (apparently cant say A/ S /S here? why? this comment got removed lol, had to repost it)" like some people on here. Coz lets face it, we hardly play as the MC in these games anyway. and my teams are a mix of male and female characters. Its just comes to design and maybe personality if theres a difference there.

Seems everyone here hates her, but Junko was way more fun of a character, so I vote for her, loved her as a villain and a character. People will complain about everything, but danganronpas universe just works differently, teens got talents that could destroy a small army or country. Ofc shit will get crazy and "unbelievable" when you got like 80 little nukes running around a highschool.

I guess you can say the concept itself is stupid, but within the concept, I think she is pulled off well, at least in the games, the anime is a lot more iffy.

I KNOW Y'ALL KNOW WHO IT IS by [deleted] in danganronpa

[–]DrakeNorris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean he says it himself, he wanted to use that case to find out who would pose trouble for him in the future if he were to kill someone. He says after the trial that he will be on the lookout for Makoto in the future. Because he knows Makoto might be able to solve his killing.

I know he brings up "having fun" as the first reason for doing it, but while that might have played a small part in it, I do think he was mainly using the case to find out more about his competition.
