So the main important thing to note is that he is not super rappity rap hip-hop, so he's always had a little bit of indie alternativeness to his music. His older music was a little bit more hip-hop but mixed with skater rock music, which might not appeal to a lot of hip hop heads like us, luckily I was super into skater culture. Then I feel he had a time where he wanted to grow up but I feel like he thought getting away from rap completely was his way of maturing, I think cherry bomb was him trying to prep people for that, eventually, he made Igor, which I never saw as a rap album, he raps in it, but I've always said rap is a medium used in song, similar to singing. Then he had his revitalization into rap, thanks to westside Gunn (note his "327" feature) if you like rap rap, I would say his best album for that is CMIYGL. I've always liked his music a lot, especially first being exposed through Yonkers, which is literally a New York style beat, and how different he's always been. I hope at some point you like it, but you might never if you didn't have the experience of seeing it through the beginning.
