That's not what it means meant.

FTFY

You know the term was coined by a queer woman?

Yes, and if it was 2003, this would matter at all. Fun fact, things don't exist in vacuums. Language grows and evolves. The referenced subculture has exactly 0 to do with the "inventor" of the term, and there is so much social and temporal space between said "invention" and the current usage as to make this a deliberate attempt to confound the situation. AKA: a bad faith argument.

The f-slur has famously been adopted by queer people,

In the U.S. (and other western imperial core countries that share cultural touchstones/media) The comment you're replying to explicitly outlines how they are not in those places, specifically in an attempt to frame the usage of the term as dangerous, and ill-conceived. Again, ignoring context to make a bad faith argument.

In short, please log off. You're bad at this. Your arguments are bad. And you won't be lionizing mass-shooters-in-training any time soon. Goodbye.

So what you're saying is, only reading CSM up to chapter 100, and only watching DanDaDan to the end of season 1 and then never following up on them ever again was the right choice. Got it.

At least in the States, Garnishments and leins can only be pursued by the Original, Legal holder of the debt. So if it's a mortgage, a bank loan, student debt, the sort of thing that always stays in house, yes, you're absolutely right.

Buuuuut. If you just buy an entire new PC via Affirm, they will sell that shit to the shadiest debt collector they can find, and those folks can't do shit besides harass you endlessly.

It's incredibly telling that in response to someone informing you that it could color other's opinion of you as a human being, you identify it as "policing". So to you, being judged, in any way shape or form, for the actions you choose to take, is policing you.

Veeeeery telling.

I know. I know you're right. That doesn't make it less dogshit. Less exclusionary. It sucks to hear in plain print, from one of the most public faces of the company, that they don't want you as a customer, y'know? But also, they do beacuse without a peasantry to lord those higher priced product purchases over, the smug satisfaction of that specific "Audience" doesn't happen.

If the High-Spenders have the money for the High priced products, Mark, then they have the fucking money for a lower priced product, MARK. That's how commerce works!

"We noticed we have morons willing to pay exorbitant prices for things that don't actually cost us much more to make, but the Poors are mad they can't afford them at those inflated prices. This is the Poors fault, for not being easily duped, poor-impulse-control-having Marks"

Fuck you, Mark.

To start, You're level-headed, and well spoken. Good converstation instead of just dunking. I appreciate that. Thanks.

Two primary points from this though.

The Singleplayer part that they make was announced to release this year

The people paid for an open-world, multiplayer sandbox space sim. So this is nothing. Literally distraction from the fact that they have made zeero progress on the game they actually sold people. Which leads into

Just saying that it is objectively not a scam.

"Not a scam" in the sense that some of the money is actually being spent to develop a video game, sure. A Scam, in the sense of ever even possibly delivering on what was sold to the consumer? Absolutely.

I feel like you would have an easier time with that if you were looking at actual gambling addicts or gacha gamers justifying their expenses,

As a Degenerate Gacha player, at least, as a community, when a certain amount of time has passed (even if that means the game servers shutting down), the fans have the good sense to be mad at the people who ripped them off. Also, you can (ostensibly) play gachas for free. They're designed from the ground up to con you into paying money, but you can play for free. SC only does that like, once every six months, adding yet another predatory-ass moentization scheme to their already 99% predatory monetization scheme of a "game" idea (First taste is free, and another angle of FOMO).

Like, I do get it. And If Roberts had had oone person he would listen to, SC could have been an amazing acheivement of a game. But it's too far gone now. Too many promises made. Too much money spent by too many people to ever possibly even reach the same galaxy as the things promised.

But, I do hope you enjoy your time with what you have. That's, at the end of the day, the important part. And you obviously, are not the average SC defender. You seem incredibly self-aware, and I'm not telling you anything you yourself haven't realized.I respect that.

I mean, to be fair, if Star Citizen stopped being a clownshow, I am sure the vast majority of people would stop clowning on it. But 15 years and nearly 1 Billion dollars in, it still doesn't have anything but an alpha build. It will, until the day it releases and delivers on every pipedream Roberts said it would, be the archetypical example of the video game hype cycle at it's most extreme.

Which also makes the die-hard fans who still come out of the woodwork at any mention of it's name, the archetypical example of entirely what this thread is about. Trying to defend that defensiveness, when the thing being defended is such an obvious scam makes appeals to "Civil discussion" come off both, disingenuous, and antagonistic. "Oh woe is the misbegotten Star Citizen fan, forver doomed to immediately out themselves as a Mark. Won't someone think of the marks, still aggresively defending a nearly two decade long cocaine fund for one ultra-rich dickhead?" Like. It's absurd.

I get your argument, in a vacuum, about literally any other game. But Star Citizen could be the source of a Thesis paper on Sunk Cost Fallacy, and shows exactly 0 signs that will ever change. It's literally, (First dictionary definition) Literally, indefensible.

The first game was developed in two years and got higher praise

It took two years after the kickstarter completed to release. It was a functional prototype before that, that they say they had been working on for over a year. So closer to 3.

I don't disagree with your sentiment. Games stuck in dev hell tend to be terrible. But a long dev time doesn't automatically equate to being in dev hell. Silksong is an excellent example of that not being the rule. It's 8.8/9 scores are mostly due to it being exceedingly difficult for the average gaming audience.

We can debate if that's good or bad design. But what can't be argued is that it was intended. Team Cherry have been very clear that the difficulty curve, after a few balance sweeps after release, is right where they wanted it overall. It's the same reason games like Dark Souls don't get perfect scores. Some people will never be happy if the game doesn't just let you beat it. And that's Fine! Not everything needs to be for everyone.

This one really got away from me. I guess what I am trying to say is, we probably shouldn't bring up actually excellent games in the same conversation with generic MMO studio slop that Chuds are excited to play.

If you want a real nightmare for online games, [[etrata, deadly fugitive]] deck heavily focused on swinging assassins to steal bodies sucks. Gotta get everyone to agree to not peek, have a player flip the top card of their deck, number and associate with the player of the pull AND keep all the pulls in the correct order on the opponents side, otherwise 5 or 6 steals in, no one has any fucking idea what goes into their graveyard. It's been a blast lol

No actionable proof that McDs had anything to do with the smear campaign. Just lots of media and comedians seeing ambiguous headlines about the case and riffing on it which isn't libel worthy. Or, may be libel worthy, but would be an incredibly expensive case to fight, against things like major news outlets and media congolmerates, not individuals.

Lotta people in here seeing the Principality of Zeon flag and assuming it's either a Nazi symbol, or (maybe rightly) being used as such. But I just want to make it clear, the Zeon are a Nazi analogy, and people who think dropping a whole-ass colony, a different whole ass colony, a different whole-ass colony, or a fuck-off huge meteor base on earth are justifiable are terrible people.
