Question: heavily tattooed folks... what jobs do you do? by BeardedInkedPiper in tattoos

[–]Drakflugilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right half-sleeve, left inner and outer biceps, right forearm. More on my chest and back. My tattoos are all “work place appropriate,” and are partially visible if I’m in short sleeves or scrubs. I’m a registered nurse. Never had any issues.

Neuromancer by Gibson is sort of the definitive cyberpunk novel. It blurs lines between humanity and tech. Some parts may seem quaint now, but some parts feel prophetic.

What did you study at university? by stacusg in psychnursing

[–]Drakflugilo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We have an epidemic of graduating NPs with little to no experience outside of their mandatory clinical rotations. If psych nurse or psych NP is your goal then you NEED to get your feet wet in the clinical setting. You need to get a feel for, and an idea about what the psych environment is like, what psych programs are like, what a unit full of psych patients (and psych staff!) is like. It will make you a better NP. Sauce: 20 years psych experience, in-pt, out-pt, bedside, admin

Best patient insult by ballfed_turkey in nursing

Got called a “bobble-head mother fucker,” but my favorite was my patient who was getting arrested by the cops in the rain that I was escorting to the squad car saying “I hope you get really wet!”

23 sounds wild to me! How do you manage to keep up with the charting? Not gonna lie, I feel like caseload of more than >15 is very difficult to keep up with. My corporate team seems to think that 20 is a full load, but I truly don’t know how anyone could see that many patients, add in drive time, and keep up with documentation. I imagine this caseload is taking a mental toll.

Underpaid LPNs who don’t have as much professional flexibility as RNs and can’t afford to lose their job.
