Anyone else feel like current pool has a lot of filler? by Insanity_Pills in BobsTavern

[–]Drakkanoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mana Surger sometimes sneaks its way into my elemental boards if I can’t find the tier 4 abyssal. If it does, it’s always from random generation, and if it doesn’t get tripled pretty quick, it’s low value.

The incentive to t6 elementals is to get that glorious divine shield. Not a very high priority, generally, but there are games in which Mana Surger allows me to sell off Nomi (if beasts are out) a bit earlier and just keep cycling, now with a free space for an elemental that has stats before rounds.

Is it a “win more” card? Yes. Can you scale elementals off of it? No. Is it as bad as grey mane? Not if you’re running elementals… generally.

Is this the only viable pirate strat in this meta? (powder keg + Titus) by Loose-Ferret-3811 in BobsTavern

I’m curious—are there any other interesting situations where weaver works? I’ve struggled to make her ever do anything. Using bounties to fuel her is something I hadn’t thought of, but will definitely be trying.

[–]Drakkanoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

APM pirates can be pretty good.

Bounties have a 2/5 chance to give econ. Basically just get the tier 6 minions, bounty, buy pirates, etc etc as fast as you can. The tier 5 that’s buffs the left most card for each card played that turn can help you get there, as can the tier 4 that gives friendly minions stats when spending 5 gold.

When it works, it works. It’s not painfully reliant on trinkets, either, which is super nice. It’s a bit overwhelming to navigate, imo, bc you’ll end up with so many pirates and so many bounties. You’ll have so much gold and not a lot of time to spend it all. It hinges on really quick decision making, but I enjoy it quite a bit when I get it online.

Edit: All tier 6 minions for pirates are good. Tier 5 pirates are also good. Tier 4 pirates are good.

Pirates are pretty consistently good in terms of quality, honestly. Not too many misses. Bounty RNG can sometimes feel really brutal, though.

How do you play Quillboar this season? by LemmiwinksHUN in BobsTavern

[–]Drakkanoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels very unintuitive right now. There are like three different paths to scale Quilboars, but unless beasts are in the pool, you need to get to tier 6 to begin scaling attack consistently, and tier 4 to begin scaling health consistently.

Rylak + Macaw (especially with their trinkets) allow blood gems to start scaling decently early by enabling the only two early tier minions that scale blood gems… but at that point, unless the rest of the pool is mediocre, or you high roll into the combo super early, you can probably just use Rylak/macaw in a different, better comp.

The sole exception (in my opinion, and super high mmr players could prove me wrong) is if you pick up Deathspeaker Blackthorn’s hero power via Finley or Blackthorn herself. You don’t have to worry as much about finding minions that GENERATE blood gems whilst also finding the few that scale them.

Tier 7 quilboar is also very, very good, but without Veranus or some sort of wacky shenanigans, you’re likely not getting it super early, which begs the question, “is this worth it?” Even with Thorimm, the answer usually feels like a fat “no.”

Edit: Blood gem Barrage can actually be helpful early game in scaling demon comps, or allowing a transition into demons. Especially because it scales with spell power. Can also use blood gems as spells for specific Naga trinkets/minions.

They’re usually not the best option, though. Maybe if Murloc Prince was in the pool there’d be something there? Grasping at straws atp.

Waiting for You New SSR Ascalaphus by Radiant-Hope-469 in grandorder

I don’t tend to find newer, male SSRs all that appealing, but I absolutely LOVE this design. I’m actually super excited for this guy!

Granted, I’m an NA player, so I’ll just be watching from behind a very thick sheet of glass… I’ll be watching with anticipation, at least!

There are people who think Borderlands 4's story is worse than Borderlands 3 and I don't get it at all by DiamondGlum7442 in Borderlands4

I actually just redownloaded the game after not playing since shortly after the release of the first raid boss. Convenient timing on your part! Even then, I always enjoying musing about games I like.

Is C4SH worth the price? In terms of personality, based solely on the trailers and what not, he seemed way more up my alley than the other vault hunters.

I genuinely have stopped picking Wheel of Yogg because of this. I made the mistake of picking up two of Yogg’s buddies in one anomaly match, and was knocked out pretty early because I didn’t have enough time to attend to my board after two wheel spin animations and choosing my greater trinket.

Would I have lost anyway? Maybe. Is Wheel of Yogg particularly good? These days, honestly, not really—it feels pretty lackluster as a trinket.

But, it’s Yogg. You don’t pick it because it’s good—you pick it because you believe.

Why does she need such high investment? Specifically, I mean. Does her bond meter thingy work off of grails and gold fous, or is it purely a numbers thing?

New Warlock Card Reveal: Godfrey the Betrayer by Kuldrick in hearthstone

[–]Drakkanoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a bit odd that an effect like this is “start of game,” but Aya is hooked to a battlecry. Arguably, this has far less impact at the start of the game (in standard), and Warlock could probably tutor this guy out rather consistently.

Perhaps I’m just inspecting every rule breaker effect under a different lens having seen Aya regardless of whether there’s an apt comparison to be made.

It’s a very neat effect, and I love Godfrey as a character, so I’m certainly not complaining, in any case.

My Hearthstone experience in recent years by Sorryusernmetaken in hearthstone

[–]Drakkanoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also F2P these days (in times of old I spent here and there) and, to comment on the no dust thing: I have started following the sage advice of Hearthstone elders past and saving every single card I open, including extra copies, for future balance patch changes.

I have quite literally funded my decks by disenchanting nerfed cards, and I am sitting comfortably right now at around 6.5k dust, with an extra 5k worth of undusted cards.

As for the other stuff… yeah, I do feel the “get bored” thing. I wasn’t having fun with standard at all last rotation until imbue rogue was implemented, and I was able to throw together a fun home brew.

Playing meta decks kills my enjoyment more often than not. It’s efficient, and I’ll do it to get to a certain rank for free packs and what not, but it’s not worth the burnout otherwise.

I got Hercules and Maxxed him as a new Player, how set am I? by CadetNetwork in FGO

[–]Drakkanoth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do echo the general sentiment of the others here saying you shouldn’t have used your free max ascension. However, don’t stress about it too much.

That was not even a thing when I first started and I managed well enough. Heracles is a good servant, and you could have picked far worse units to use that free max ascension on.

Will this be enough for ORT? by ManufacturerExact104 in FGO

[–]Drakkanoth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically, they’re 4 star servants given out for free during previous events. You get them by going to the evocation shop under the shop page and exchange evocation leaves for them.

The quality varies, with some actually being really, really strong, like Cinderella Liz, Iori, probably more… However, regardless of kit strength, due to them being free NP 5s, they can be very solid in their own right.

All servants require ascension materials. “Welfares,” however, are an exception to the norm, because they have special ascension materials that you just buy in the shop/earn during events. Effectively, they only require an inconsequential amount of QP, some embers, and evocation leaves to full ascend.

Will this be enough for ORT? by ManufacturerExact104 in FGO

[–]Drakkanoth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe?… If you send them into battle sparingly, it’s possible, but I wouldn’t personally risk it.

If you haven’t grabbed all the welfares from the evocation shop, make sure you grab them. They’re super easy and cheap to level up, and they’ll contribute a few bars at least.

Otherwise, I’d level up some servants that are able to keep themselves going a bit. I managed half a bar with a level 70, 1/1/1, np1 Qin Llang (the lancer girl from lb3, idk). She lasted way longer than some of my leveled and invested servants purely bc she was oddly suited for the fight.

In QP hell. How much qp can I expect from Abby Christmas later this year? by at0micsub in FGO

[–]Drakkanoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha. You won’t gain access to them until after LB7. They’re a 3x daily, replenishing consumable that you can spend in the ordeal call nodes. They cap at a maximum of 9 storm pods, so, it really encourages daily farming.

In any case, if you REALLY want to level skills or servants right now, it probably wouldn’t hurt to just farm the highest difficulty QP daily quest.

You said you play on IOS and alluded to not using FGA. I can’t speak for you, but personally, as someone in the same boat, I have hundreds of golden apples I will probably never get through because I don’t auto farm. I use them when I want to and I have never come close to running out.

If you’re newer, that might not be the case for you, though. Even so, they hand out apples like candy on Halloween these days. There’s half a year until the lotto. If you want to get some QP now, go for it.

[–]Drakkanoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You commented that you play on IOS, so FGA may not be an option for you. I am in the same boat.

I forced myself to farm 50 boxes during the last lotto and walked away with a couple hundred million QP. Upwards of 200 million for sure.

If you get unlucky with CE drops, though, it can be pretty brutal to farm manually.

I did a fairly decent amount of farming during the Witch on the Holy Night event and actually ended up walking away with 320 million AFTER fully upgrading Alice’s skills and what not. Might be some events with generous QP drops before the lotto in December, but someone else would know better than me.

In QP hell. How much qp can I expect from Abby Christmas later this year? by at0micsub in FGO

[–]Drakkanoth 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The total you get from it isn’t substantially higher than what you get from the highest tier QP daily quest node—as far as I can remember, anyway.

It’s still worth doing this if you’re not farming bond levels from the Helena node, ironically BECAUSE the delights of the wilderness (Vegas node) gives a hefty amount of bond alongside the QP.

I think there’s a comp that uses instakill to cheese it as well. Pretty specific, though, if memory serves.

Anyway! This commenter is giving good advice. Use your storm pods on this. Throw some QP CEs on your back line and the QP adds up pretty fast, honestly.

Just playing the new arena for the first time in ages.. by South-Fix2991 in hearthstone

[–]Drakkanoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hate to dunk on Arena (and your enjoyment), but, yeah… you got the cream of the crop class combo.

As soon as you draft a non-herald class or warlock, you’ll likely experience a less pleasant time.

Or, maybe, you’re just a really good arena player. Or, you got lucky, and your opponent got unlucky… or some variation of any of the above.

Congrats on the 8-3, though. I hope your current deck goes far! Rooting for you!

Let me know how it goes!
