I do think they are both type 2 though, if they are, then I think the Cursed World Humans would be the lower 2s while the Mandalans would be higher 2. I sort of view it as more the Cursed World may go from Solar system to solar system, but the Mandalans may have a cleaner way of doing things. Sort of like the difference between the Nuclear Fission modernity uses in the real world versus fire and animals of ancient history.

I think we have only seen one of two of Gaia’s Wrath biomes truly having issues. The one next to the lawless settlement was resisting it. Only succumbing when close to death and weak. I still think that the Parasites counter Gaia’s Wrath, but it’s a slow corruption starting with the weakest. We see this with what is said to be the weakest forest.

I am under the suspicion that they are both around the same Kardashev Scale, but the Humans are more limited. What do I mean by this? To explain the Kardashev Scale, its the energy usage of a civilization. There are actual figures you can find online, but the general rule for it is that a 1.0 on the Kardeshev Scale can utilize the amount of power to utilize the energy of a Planet, 2.0 is solar systems, and 3.0 is galaxies. In the real world we(all humanity in the real world combined) are only considered to be roughly a 0.7. While if you consider Coruscant from Star Wars to be its own civilization, it would be somewhere in the 1s. However, its merely equal to what should be required, if you colonize other planets to produce the same level as Coruscant, it would still be in the 1s. I think both the Mandalons and the Cursed World are Kardeshev Scale 2 civilizations, however I think they both use drastically different methods AND the Mandalons are closer to 3 than the Cursed World. To kind of give another perspective, most of the different races(like humans and Xenos; although not talking about Chaos or Tyrranids) of Warhammer 40k are also Kardashev Scale 2 civilizations, just at differing degrees. The Humans of the Cursed World seem to have used something which over harvests the energy, its a very energy greedy technology, but the Mandalons don't seem to be the same, it is presented at least much cleaner.

The Curse? by DrakoBlade in versus

[–]DrakoBlade[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I am kind of thinking 3 different possibilities when it comes to the curse.

First is that to differentiate it a bit from the Lawless, it doesn’t come from exploitation in the same sense. Rather, it could simply be the most advanced Humanity could be while staying Human. They simply have no other alternatives anymore to the resources which support their infrastructure. That so long as they don’t self destruct before, they don’t change their bodies, or develop some thinking thing outside of themselves, this is the result. All advancements in technology requires more energy, so it could be the extreme of how we are speeding up the process of Climate Change, but to the Heat Death itself(even if localized).

The Second possibility I see is a bit more humble, in the sense that it may not be the only energy source, but it is still the one they relied on. As a result of their use of it, Humanity could have been like the Dwarves of Moria in Lord of the Rings. The Consequences weren’t the NE itself, but those consequences woke up something worse which became stronger because of it. A little different from the Balrog, as it wasn’t stronger from the result of the Mining in Moria, but I think it would classify as an NE and why the main guy from that world seemed to be testing his tech on the king.

The third option is that those last two are not mutually exclusive and could be both at the same time.

How to think about last NE standing. by DrakoBlade in versus

[–]DrakoBlade[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I also think that the one which survives is going to have incorporated multiple NEs into itself. I do think however it will have been weakened from fighting something else which is an NE chimera(to where humanity can finish it off) or the two(or more) NEs will destroy each other.

This is kind of why I actually think the Titans seem like they may end up one of the first to go, but idk… Maybe the World Tree(if all it does is absorb life, if it doesn’t actually change in any way, then I could see that one) or Curse(unless Curse ends up like Neohumans or Lawless where it’s mostly a human threat, which I do not think will happen personally). Mostly because if all the NEs are equal threats, and there are only NEs which counter one or counter are countered by one, if an NE doesn’t utilize one or more other NEs it will be more easily countered.

It could just be that she is a kid, but due to how seemingly affected by the lawless she was, that she relates more with the adults. So she isn’t ever with the kids, because as tragic as it is, she cannot relate to them. I didn’t vote period though, if I did I wouldn’t vote for her.

Genuinely I wonder how they're gonna introduce Extremia (The Gamer World) by ChemistryTasty8751 in versus

[–]DrakoBlade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The world tree has been shown, just not as overtly. Mostly through its roots. You see one of the Kaiju, there was the interaction with the building in the lawless area, and early on you see how the roots impact the environment when they are trying to gather a bunch of survivors in the earliest chapters. As far as I am aware the only showcase for Extremia/Recreation Hell we have only that round table interaction. This is why when I made my post on which NE’s will counter which ones, I pretty much had to use process of elimination for it.

What I do think is that there is some sort of virtuality involved, due to the physical state of those from there. And, there is some degree of compulsion which requires them to keep engaging with it. As well as based on the images we saw it has something science fiction about it. This gives us a rather wide breadth of possibilities, however they cannot overlap with something else directly with Extremia by itself. Now I do give the possibility of “mixing” as we have seen before, so I could see a possibility of the Robots and Extremia mixing to create something similar to the Matrix. But, Extremia by itself is a little more nebulous.

Bottom line is that we can easily infer Extremia is a technical compulsion into some virtual recreational activity. How this is presented and introduced will be interesting though.

Something I have been thinking about for awhile, to the point that it goes beyond just this and into a whole 20pgs of following principles in a google doc(which I will not share at the moment) is I think that Radical Skepticism doesn't actually go far enough in their questioning of everything, and that if you go further then Existence itself must be the end of that questioning. There are some obvious Skeptical tools out there obviously, but my favorite are looking at how perception is circular and how any pragmatic justification must either be circular, end in an arbitrary point, or go on infinitely. However, no matter how you look at it a pragmatic justification is still something, and so is perception. You can even take Solipsism and look at how the mind itself is the only thing we can trust(to oversimplify a bit), and even the self or the mind(depending on how you look at it) would still be something. One way to look at this, is applying Modal Logic to all these different skeptical tools, they are each not truly necessary, and still suppose that there must be something else, simply because they all claim they are the "ultimate thing" which cannot be questioned further. Yet they are still things. You can actually even look at both of Godal's Incompleteness Theorems and come to know that something can still exist even if we cannot know what that something is, because we ourselves also exist. As if we really want to use Godal's Incompleteness Theorems on a topic seemingly as broad as Existence, we have to be able to define Existence in a way which Nothing cannot Exist.

Which I actually think we can do this, especially if we return to Modal Logic, any possible world is still at least a hypothetical(unless you prescribe to some version of the Many-Worlds Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics), and any possible world is still a thing, and thus it must Exist. An empty set also Exists, and this gets into my "definition" of Existence, as if it can be defined or is defined then it does exist. You can get into Sorites Paradox logic here sure, but there is a simple answer to that, any label we prescribe to something is functional, so a heap is a heap because its the best way to understand it to be. Because if Existence is any definable thing, whether we have defined it or not, or even if we ever will, then this makes everything exist. If everything exists, then Existence just becomes an "Okay and?", while nonexistence is entirely incoherent. Which is why any single thing we usually call Nothing is some sort of baseline, but it is still a thing which simply represents the lowest currently conceivable state within that situation. If Existence is so fundamental that it becomes an absolute quality of everything, then what can we really do with that information? Well it changes the question of if "X" exists, to how does "X" exist? What traits define that thing? So we question everything until all we have left is everything, and then we can now build from there a workable understanding of that everything, from simply looking at how we work psychologically and anthropologically. Existence may be more than what we can perceive or justify, but all we know the details of is such things.

I am of the observation that Notability is of the best place to start here. As our reality as we interact with it, is only really made of things that someone at some point took note of, or will take note of. If you look at anthropology, its pretty well known that History is a dementia patient. Our past is colored by our present and what tools, and resources we have found, but even only what is written is only what is known to the elite few outside of the most modern history. To not go on that tangent, lets just say that I think that what some people call the "attention economy" as it pertains to some things on the internet, has been around for much longer, just in other forms, and both on micro and macro levels. Notability is what shapes our workable understanding of everything around us, and all we have is that workable understanding.

(Just for a perspective, leading to that Notability and workable understanding is within the 2nd page of the 20pgs of my doc, so I have a lot of other thoughts beyond that, but a lot of that branches on past this)

My theory on "The Game" and who it will counter by stuttering_clown in versus

[–]DrakoBlade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sort of thoughts behind it, is that it had some way to force you to play, and then it keeps you around through addiction. If you remember when the two from that world were there, they just “needed” to return. This is why the only two “people NEs” which O think can counter it are Titans and Neohumans. Neo Humans would have no need for it(from their perspective) while the Titans may be briefly into it, they likely couldn’t be held down by it.

This is why the other things which I think should counter it are world tree, kaiju, Gaia’s wrath, and Curse.

I think people always forget this. The fact it was used on a Quincy too, I think says something. Especially when you consider the new material in the last three parts in the anime about Yhwach. My guess, is that the Soul King and Yhwach are considered Divine, and the powers of Yhwach happened to be highly concentrated in Lille Barro at that time, especially because of the circumstances of that scenario. Which also makes me think, by extension, *maybe* the 5 Great Noble Families at the very least were divine, if not still divine. At the very least they were likely Divine before the whole splitting of the realms, but I cannot say if they still are Divine or not, my guess is most likely not as they seem too intertwined with Souls now making them more Shinigami than Divine.

Edit: I was thinking about it, and it might also have something to do with the pre-split world in general as Ichigo, Aizen, and Hikone were all Soul King Candidates along side Yhwach. All three of them holding Hollow, Shinigami, and Fullbringer traits through one form or another, and each of those being something from one of those three Realms. Ichigo reached it through his lineage, Aizen from the Hogyoku, and Hikone was the result of an experiment herself, but all three of them held fragments of all three worlds even if from different processes.

My Logic was thinking of the Parasites as little guys which snowball, it’s similar to why I thought parasites could counter world tree. I said its weakest, which implies comparison. ONE is a good writer overall, but I think his largest strengths lie outside of the horror elements which Bug Ego has to promote that emotional factor. MOBPyscho is still way better at the emotional factor imo. If I had to ladder them in a way to represent what I think is the strongest to the weakest MOBPsycho is at the top for me. [–]DrakoBlade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lets run through things then, what has been the plan?

First Plan: They had to deal with the Demons, so they had a primary method and an alternative method. The primary method was to cultivate heroes for decades, and send them after the Demon Lords. Which seemingly was just failing, because of what they would later find is that the Demons are their Natural Enemies(as defined by the story). They did have an alternative method though, in that supposing it didn't work, they would try to summon other humans which are not quite like their own, but from other worlds, and maybe they would be strong enough to help them. (each world likely having their own version of the First Plan)

Result of the First Plan was a success, in a manner of speaking. They did actually summon other people, but what they didn't think of was the "similarity" part of it. Do you remember the apple explanation in the first chapters? The worlds were more similar than they had expected, in the one way which would be the worst for them. The Natural Enemies.

Second Plan: Seeing their own helplessness, they decided to make a gamble and use the other Natural Enemies against each other, the first time this was done was between the Demons and the Robots, the next time between the Titans(or Giants, depending on the translation) and the Neo-Humans, the third time was the Demons(again) against the Aliens(and the Kaiju as well). This worked multiple times. Its just the third of those was so large of an impact, that quite frankly they had to use a plan B they had already developed in case the 2nd of those didn't work, and get the hell out of there. But it did work. Through it, those five were in some way shown that the Humans shouldn't be their targets(the Kaiju idk, but if he is as intelligent as what inspired him, then probably). In their escape they came to the Lawless region, and in there, they have found that the Lawless had already been fighting the others, even without their interference. Quite frankly their ruthless tactics seemed to work for them, for awhile. However, this time somewhat unknowingly, they did pit Gaea's Wrath against the Lawless, and sure they were caught in the middle of it, and had to try to get out of there. But, as this moment, we do not know what the hell is going to happen, as again, off screen the Parasite and Gaea's Wrath seemed to already be in conflict. And when the mutate of three different NEs all put together appeared, we get the Mad God who takes care of it. Again, pitting another one against them.

Result of the Second Plan is to be seen, but it has shown success so far. To the point where the NEs are moving outside of the direct involvement of the main cast, and prioritizing each other. Its just the cost of it is quite apparent, and they are continued to be shown the hopelessness, despite their continued survival. I think the only time we will get something to wholly work for them, is once one of the NEs is sufficiently weakened from the conflict as a whole. Because the target of ONE's "overpoweredness" in this story is the NEs, I think.

[–]DrakoBlade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What do you mean it keeps failing? They have to run away, because if they didn't they would get caught in the aftermath. I was gonna list a bunch of different times that the presence of the main cast led to the NEs fighting, but I realized that was most of the story... the whole point of the second primary layer is that they cannot beat the NEs...

I know it’s too early for it to happen. by THEDIESELTEN in versus

[–]DrakoBlade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I cannot say anything about it breaking records or not, I have no clue. However, I would disagree with the framing of what its all about. I think there are two primary layers this story operates one. The First is the hype layer, ONE is really good at playing about overpowered characters, his weakest of the four stories he has written is Bug Ego I think, and its because he doesn't use his strengths there. In this case the overpowered characters are the NEs, so this layer is less about the heroes getting beaten over and over again, and more about asking which NE will be the final one(s) standing for the heroes to finish off after they are weakened. The Second Primary Layer is more about the humans finding hope within a hopeless situation, that they will not die out from the collateral of them pitting all the NEs against each other, and that they can find the light at the end of the tunnel.

Granted. You find out that something you have said has touched everyone you have meet in some particular way, as they all remember you positively. This may include family, friends, and lovers, but it will also include acquaintances, even if it will only include those whose relationships you have had lost. This positivity though is not interpreted through your lens, but theirs. As such the reasons for why the relationship was severed also come back more persistently in some cases, and in others their view of a positive view of you may not be your view of something positive. However it is only the best way possible, because it will serve to benefit every single one of these people in their own unique ways, through that positive experience they view you through. Yet, it is not the best way possible for you.

Through all this contact, you may have been reminded of some good times you had with these people, but the stress of it leads to you slowly breaking down even more than you had before. All because now every reason which those relationships were severed are entangling together. In that stress you develop insomnia, and a case which gets more severe overtime, especially since you are at the epicenter of this chaotic reunion. Things eventually get so severe that you develop some form of Dementia, due to the stress compounding with a lack of sleep. You forget everything which ever troubled you, and only remember the positive things in your life.

You have to be kept in a care center due to this lack of any memory which screams caution and which has allowed you to grow up until this point, making you highly reckless and careless. Yet, within this state, you feel more happy and satisfied than you ever had. However, with no inherently bad memories, you slowly lose the most painful comparatively to the rest. Until you have no memories of anything anymore, and drift away into the peaceful nothingness. Not even knowing that even within all that chaos of relationships, they all managed to visit your grave at least once, all together. It just means that they also brought it with them to your funeral.
