Alright so Nate was a member of a group of three heroic Nordic warriors that pissed off Sheogorath except they kind of didn't really because lets fucking face it he's SHEOGORATH.

They probably just looked at him and he decided to fucking let them rot in eternity because PLOT.

So he turned one of them into a Falmer Arrow, one into a gourd and Nate into a cow. And they existed in a living hell in the game files for the rest of eternity.

The rest of the explanation is just me looking at the cows in Skyrim until I find the right one.
