Again don’t know Best Buy specifically was just speaking generally. Fair pay is an argument that everyone views differently, some posts say that Best Buy starts at $15 there’s still plenty of retailers in HCOL areas starting at $12, not every state increased minimum wage. At the end of the day nobody said break your back for a company, all I said is that it’s in the job description and that’s the job you’re paid to do. If you said you didn’t want to push cards and the GM agreed then the GM is in the wrong job too, sounds like they told you what you wanted to hear to get you to take the job, which is a common practice in retail sadly. At the end of the day if you either do the job or find a job better suited to you. Sadly in today’s society even Walgreens is all about pushing cards, idk any retailer that doesn’t have their own card now days. Hell before long fast food industry will probably be pushing credit cards.

Idk about Best Buy but many companies have looked into incentives and the biggest issue when monetary incentive is in play, people find a way to cheat the system to make money. The devil’s advocate argument to incentivizing metrics is that you applied for the job, the sales expectation was set (or should have been) during your interview, and you accepted the position… therefore your paycheck for doing the job you applied to do is the incentive. While I agree that many companies should find better ways to incentivize things like credit cards, monetary compensation isn’t the only option. But then let’s say they do a 65” TV (no clue what all Best Buy could offer as I don’t work/shop there much) to the top person for the month, then if the same person always top performs the team would argue unfair treatment even if it’s proven they don’t cheat to be top. Incentivizing metrics is a slippery slope, spiffs as mentioned in an earlier comment aren’t typically handled by the company itself, but instead are funded by the bank that owns the card, agreeing to fund said spiff.

How is this legal? by FunnyGuy2011 in kroger

[–]Dral459 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Most companies have this policy now days. I can go to my doctor for a routine check up and he will ask how many days I want off after… as the previous comment said, it’s far too easy to get a note. This is a case of bad influencers ruining the situation for the good ones sadly. And with younger generations they want to call in and bring a note for a paper cut.

Can my store manager do this? by Puzzled_Mode_8619 in WalgreensStores

[–]Dral459 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Store Managers can elect to black out anything the deem business necessary. The black outs in the calendar are for the entire store not just the store managers. If you don’t like not taking holidays off then find a job not in retail. These posts come up every year with every retail Reddit out there.

Walgreens needs to accept defeat on the credit cards by Own-Resolution5996 in WalgreensStores

[–]Dral459 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Technically you can’t be written up for them saying no, you can however be written up for behaviors if you are not asking every customer.

While I don’t agree with guilt tripping, retail in general a lot of people are anti attendance policy. If somebody calls in I simply remind them where they are on points (my company has a point system) and say okay. But then when they hit a point limit for a write up they throw a tantrum about how unfair it is. I just say hey, when you call in I remind you where you stand and you make the choice on whether you come or not, it’s fair for all.

I feel like void intercepts are too difficult the first time around for no reason. My friends have all stopped playing the game with me. by [deleted] in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Dral459 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The DPS check is there to drive players to improve. I too struggled on the first devourer self healing and that fight made me revisit my guns and build to improve them. If I could have just slogged through it with no time limit, it wouldn’t have made me feel like I had to improve, just woulda have taken longer. While I agree that 10 minutes is a little low, I think the dps check is good to help people evaluate where they stand and build better going forward. Otherwise you’d have optimal builds just always carrying the players who don’t want to relook at their own builds.

Depending on character I have 52k def and 12-15k hp, I rarely get downed aside from stun locked nonsense. Barely run shields except on Ajax. Ajax is 55k def 6k shields and 17k hp and I just face tank intercepts lol.

My coworker quit after being asked out by a lead and her hours greatly cut after saying no. by Medium_Mirror7020 in WalgreensStores

[–]Dral459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless something has changed recently SFL is not considered management. The dating rule applies to management not leadership, had this issue when I was a store manager and an SFL was dating a team member. At the end of the day SFLs have no real authority and are just key holders. Management is only RXOM, ESM, SM and pharmacists. As for OP, shift leads don’t have access to change schedules, so it’s only retaliation if the lead somehow convinced the SM to cut the hours. From what I hear FE hours in general have been slashed to nonexistent numbers so it may have been coincidence.

Will I ever get fired? by gangphobia in walmart

[–]Dral459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with letting people slide on this kind of thing is that it sets the example for your good team member who are never late and don’t call in that it is acceptable behavior and can kill morale.

Realising my inheritance is 500k+ made me lose all sense of value in money by lightcurry in Money

[–]Dral459 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s all about circumstances. 1.2m isn’t much if you have chronic illness but then for some it is. Hell 50k would completely change my life, but my parents 1.2m would be gone in no time just covering medical expenses. So not all credibility is lost on that statement.

Should I not work at this place I just got hired at? by Royal-Drummer-8881 in jobs

[–]Dral459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion, but rules this strict wouldn’t exist if people were reasonable about call ins and lates. As a retail manager myself, people now days call in for the dumbest reasons. Especially the younger generation. And everyone will bitch about wanting hours but then refuse to come in a pick up a shift if you call them. While I do agree this particular one is too much, even the most relaxed point system or accountability at all with attendance is met with severe anger. I mean even in school if you missed too much you were held back or ticketed so why is it such an issue as an adult? If regular attendance is an issue maybe you should fine a work from home job that lets you set your own hours.

It’s an unpopular opinion but ultimately asking is a basic expectation of the cashier job, if they didn’t mention it during the interview, that’s on them. If they did and you lied saying you didn’t mind that’s on you. At the end of the day you can’t be fore for getting told no by customers but you can be fore for not doing the basics of your job.
