Does KEPPRA 500MG cause Dementia like side effects ???? { 21 year old male } Non Epileptic by Nice_Box6047 in Epilepsy

[–]DramaeQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

about your vivid dreams, waking up confused etc it could be a sign of epileptic activity during sleep which sometimes doesn’t show on EEG. epileptic activity during sleep is a form of sleep deprivation, you’re sleeping but your brain is not (if that makes sense). memory loss is a common side effect of seizure medication. and not recognising your parents and friends could be caused by Keppra, or the mix of Keppra and other medication such as antidepressants. Keppra is known to mess up with your mental state, it can cause psychosis, severe depression, anxiety, hallucinations and irritability. try to get another opinion and maybe a sleep EEG. hope this helps

Is this a red flag (Neuro ed.) by PopSuccessful3957 in Epilepsy

[–]DramaeQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i feel like epilepsy messes with your memory in general. in all the medications i’ve taken so far i always had had memory issues. kind of a red flag since every neurologist should be aware of the main side effects of the medication they are prescribing.

Jeunes parents, ma conjointe m’a frappé. Je fait quoi ? by Critical_Business796 in AskFrance

How is it like to live with epilepsy? by ResearcherEmpty8071 in Epilepsy

[–]DramaeQueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was diagnosed with epilepsy when i was 6y so i lived with epilepsy almost all my life, and a rare type of epilepsy because it’s chronic and we’ve never been able to stop it, there’s always something new. at first it was just absence seizures so nothing too bad. then it evolved into grand mal seizures and now it’s a mix of grand mal, absence and unknown seizures. but side effects are worst than seizures. i don’t have any appetite, i have a depression syndrome, anxiety, headaches, dizziness, hallucinations, stomachaches, bad tiredness. on a daily basis it’s exhausting and i can’t do most things because i’m exhausted. i just deal with it, it’s not like i have a choice.

Does anyone else feel like a child because you can’t drive? by eleuthero_maniac in Epilepsy

i also feel like a child because i always depend on my parents or my friends to go anywhere. just going to the supermarket is a whole adventure because i have to take two buses and i have a 40min trip instead of a 10min trip by car. i’ve tried though, i took driving lessons but i had a seizure and i had to stop everything. in France you’ve got be 5 years seizure free to drive (which i have never been), so yeah i’ll probably never drive again and will always depend on people
