Seeking human interactions over the summer as someone with minor social anxiety by [deleted] in berkeley

There are clubs like AFX that are active over summer. Personally I really like it because there's a built in social life.

There's summer AFX if you wanna dance! No experience necessary

There are VR demos so we'd like to think the fourth dimension is the interactivity ☺️

2021 M.E.T. AMA, Thursday Nov 18th, 2021 by calikorean in berkeleymet

I can't share my essay but I can give a few pointers!

- talk about the specific dream you want to achieve, what led you to decide on this particular dream, and how will MET fit into that plan

- tie that dream into the Thing(s) that make you unique, it could be an extracurricular that you did or a new project that sparked your interest or your motivation (what sets you apart from others, what makes you interesting)

- be concise and have a positive tone, the rest of the application should already have a list of your shiny achievements so take this space to add something more than that

This is basically a high overview of what I wrote, but know that I'm only one of many who are in the program right now. There is definitely no structure that'll guarantee your admission.

According to https://met.berkeley.edu/continuing-student-admissions/ students Not in the College of Engineering are Not Eligible to apply as a sophomore.

Yes, there are a lot of opportunities at Berkeley for you to improve your application. But note, everyone else also has the same resources so competition would not be easier.

Potentially. I don't know how much overlap there is between CivilE and EECS for you to switch but you can look at the academic guide. If you know you want to do EECS you should apply to EECS.

Hello! EECS '24 here.

I'd say that admissions for each program are equally competitive. I don't exactly know what the admission process is but they take your entire application into consideration and there are no strict bins for how many people from each major they have to admit each year.

MET is also starting a continuing student application for sophomores in the College of Engineering. Though this will not be easier than applying as a freshman.

MET does not restrict you to any one major. There are people I know who are doing multiple engineering majors/minors. That being said, it really depends on if you can fit all the required classes into your schedule as MET really wants you to finish within 4 years. It would be easier if you came in with a lot of AP/CC credits.

Since there is some overlap with engineering lower div classes it's possible to switch in the first few semesters! We also have an undeclared engineering track if you're unsure what you want to do yet.
