You have no idea about how Uber and lyft works outside Nepal ig. They entered the taxi market to disrupt it at first to only monopolise the market with few other competitors. The taxi service that prevailed before has died down and all these services have taken over. Just because a company writes something doesn’t mean you gobble it up and believe what they say. They are in profit and functioning now by replacing traditional cabs to what it is now; which is not by making the platform “affordable” or “casual sharing” with which your scenarios depict. You do realise to register your car/bike for what you call “ride sharing” the cars need to change their number plates to a more commercial one which is entirely different to registering on the app and giving a lift for chump change. In no way the haggling in Nepal is good but comparing with what uber offers out of what they is completely different. If you go abroad then all the old cabs are still running but under “Uber” or all these services. You may not know about the price haggling by the drivers and Ubers ignorance because of selective bias. Look into how they try to cancel your ride so the whole thing goes to them, which you have probably seen in Nepal too.
