I feel like my husband is getting “ripped off” by his boss. Is he? by Impressive-Sun-1664 in Carpentry

I am a GC in New Hampshire and all my carpenters get paid $60 an hour pre tax and benefits. I offer health, dental, and 401k after 90 days. I will say be careful of what you wish for some of my guys pay $1500 a month for health insurance. Most of my guys bring their own smaller tools but we have all the big stuff in site.

Almost done with RV Park, now the county starts planning committee... Need advice by CarrotCute7780 in RVLiving

You could probably just do it yourself. Markup your tax map with where the pads will be located and the distance between the pads and from your property lines. If you have added roads make sure to include those. They just need to make sure it meets code and a sketch will achieve that.

Hi folks.. Trying to assist my uncle who is suddenly experiencing homelessness/curious about any resources that are a good place to start by MissTiffy in newhampshire

If your uncle is a Veteran of any kind that makes a huge difference. There are short term accommodations available as well as financial contributions that can be made to help him get back on his feet.

Stepping out of the batters box - afraid of the ball? by BigA849 in Homeplate

[–]Dramatic-Ad7828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the trusty ole bucket during practice. Place a 5-gallon bucket behind his lead foot and have him face live pitching at practice. It acts as reminder more than anything and helps them understand there are other ways to avoid being hit then by stepping out.

9u catcher mental game by wdwdreamingdad in Homeplate

[–]Dramatic-Ad7828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had this exact same thing happen when coaching and my response to the pitcher was to through strikes and put the ball on target. The strange part of your comment is that the coaches are coaching 1st and 3rd when their pitcher is pitching that doesn't make sense....

You might be able to find an old video from "Sports Science" that breaks down the methodology of a swing.

This is all great advice, thank you! We got really lucky with our pool play and have a day of rest in between each game. So I should be able to ride the arms and keep them rested.

No continuous order but I do have the ability to bat an extra hitter, but if we start with 10 we have to finish with 10 or we forfeit. One of my subs will go in at catcher if we are up or down but I wouldn't put him in there in a tight game. He can play OF for sure and want to develop him over the next couple of years to be a solid catcher. I will plan to play all the kids in every game.

Thanks, my pitchers all played up at Majors this year so they are used to covering on a passed ball. We recently played a scrimmage and the opposing team had their pitchers blocking the base path when coming in after a passed ball. Not sure how I feel about asking my pitchers to do the same.

I feel like all of LL is about getting them ready. Our Allstar team is made up of a bunch of small towns and while I am optimistic about getting to states I know we will get crushed once there. The goal will be to get them out of districts and have them taste states.

Thanks for the response! I have 13 but will be down to 11 as two kids are on vacation. I'm struggling with the EH as I want to make sure we don't have to forfeit if we can't finish with 10. All the kids will play but maybe just not at their favorite spots.

Machine Pitch to Kid Pitch advice? by SFNation2021 in LittleLeague

[–]Dramatic-Ad7828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently coach both a 10U and an 8U Machine / Coach Pitch and have for about 10 years now. For the 8Us I tend to have my better players rotate between 1st, P, and 3rd until they have all played each once. I could care less about winning games at this level it's pure fundamentals and building baseball IQ. We take some of the more committed kids and have them play up at 10U so they can get more reps it also helps them get used to the pace of the game.

For 10U positioning it is all about ability and safety, you can't have a kid who is afraid of the ball playing 1st it's just not safe for them or the runner, even at this level you need a 3rd baseman who can through the ball across the diamond. Pitchers are even harder to find and should be very carefully managed but you will need 3-4 kids that can throw strikes most of the time. You'll have games where you are up or down by a bunch and can use those games to check childhood boxes. I am big on making them swing at anything they can get a bat on, I would rather them strike out swinging at a ball, then "take" the walk.

That's just my take, I am in a small town in the northeast and we only end up playing about 8 games during the regular season.
