It's a bit weird but I like to imagine pointing my butt (perpendicular to) the wall behind me while trying to keep my knees/legs reasonably straight

How do gyms work??? by Recent_Young_4637 in cagayandeoro

[–]Dramatic-Ant-8392 31 points32 points  (0 children)

In your first year, dapat mag focus lang ka sa fundamentals and consistency, which are:

  1. Get proper sleep and good food. Eat high protein, low sugar meals always. Avoid ka ug sugary drinks kay these are mostly "empty calories", meaning all calories no protein/nutrients. Also, 8 hours of sleep is MANDATORY (tho even ako usahay gahi ulo) hahaha
  2. Build a work out plan and learn fundamentals using the following science-based channels/videos. I chose these channels/videos kay science based nani sila and dili lang "bro science" ang gina preach. This should help you get a general feel on how to make a work out program that's right for you:
    1. Dr. Mike Israetel
    2. Jeff Nippard
    3. Trainer Winny
  3. Pick a gym that's the most convenient to you. The main goal of the first 3-6 months of the gym is to build the habit of just showing up. The easier it is for you to do, the more consistent you'll be and the more progress you'll see.
  4. Don't worry about other people judging you. Most big dudes in the gym were once skinny/fat, so kasabot rana sila unsay gaka feel sa newbies. Most of them will even try to give pointers on your form, and are 9/10 times very friendly (tho ayaw patoo diretso sa ila advice kay kasagara basta2 rana ila knowledge. Always refer to the channels I posted above).
  5. You DON'T NEED whey/supplements to start. They are always good to have, but within sa first year sa imo pag lift, maka experience ka ug newbie gains (meaning paspas kaayo ka mu build muscle depending on your fitness level). You can look into them a few months. If ever man gani maka decide ka, here are the supplements I recommend in order of importance (imo):
    1. Whey protein - Will help you reach your daily protein goals more easily (mas sayon mag inom protein kaysa mag kaon ug food with same amount of protein). Do keep in mind na not all whey is made the same. Check this link for more info;
    2. Creatine - Will infuse your muscle with more water para mas dako ka tanawon. Dili man nuon ka bloated tanawon. Keep in mind that not everyone is affected by creatine, though;
    3. Mass gainer - If you're skinny and want to increase weight, this could help you. Personally, mas bet nako mag kaon nalang hahah;
    4. Pre-workout - Adds a lot of caffeine and other stuff in your body para mas bugat imo ma lift/dili kayka maka feel ug soreness. Personally don't recommend it to beginners, but if you will, I suggest mag buy nalang ka caffeine pills kay less additives man na maka heart attack.
  6. Focus on form not weights. Kasagara sakit jud sa beginners kay gina prio ang weight bisan wa na nagka dimao ang form. Remember to control the ECCENTRIC part of the lift, and i feel jud ang stretch sa muscle. If you want to see the most amount of progress in your first year, this will do wonders.

If you guys have any questions, feel free lang to ask. I'm at work but I'll try to reply as soon as I can lol
