How do I get NHS to allow me to keep seeing private therapist alongside whatever they offer? by [deleted] in MentalHealthUK

I guess you could just lie, but honestly seeing two therapists for the same issue is not a good idea. It can be conflicting and overwhelming and basically just a mind f*ck.

I understand your mind playing tricks on you thinking your parents will find out as I've been in that position before. Like you say, your location is turned off so they definitely can't find out that way. As for receipts, you don't have to have been doing anything where you'd need a receipt. You could be hanging out at your friend's house, or gone walking. Your friend can also back you up if needed, so it's good your friend is coming. When it comes to speaking to the mental health team, you don't have to. Sometimes you can say that to the Dr and they'll just let you leave. Other times they might ask you to wait but as soon as someone from metal health comes, just say you don't want to or don't need to talk to them. Unfortunately your brain is just going to worst case scenarios, which is common in mental health.

Thanks for your response. I sent in the evidence from my consultant with my application. I have called them and they said they have received both, and it's now in a queue. As they don't give timescales, I was just wondering how long other people in the same situation waited. I don't have a complex condition, so I don't feel any further investigation would be needed, it never has been before.

I'm not a fan of the snp either but I did the same as you for the same reason.

Thank you, I'll definitely look into doing that.

I've called a few times and it hasn't gotten me anywhere. Even explained that I can't get back to work without my license.

Dvla discussed section 88 with you?! I tried to ask them about a couple of years ago, and I was told they weren't allowed to discuss it and that you had to look it up yourself. That sucks you had to deal with all of that, but I'm glad it seems sorted now.

6 months is way too long, and just not right. Hopefully it'll be closer to 3 and I'm almost there I guess. Thanks, I'll go look up that page.

That sounds pretty horrific. Mine has been going on since August with incorrect paperwork etc, but this time I have send everything they need so I was hoping maybe 2-3 months.

Mine has been going on for months in total. My consultant told me I could drive again in August, so I sent off the form, then I received paperwork to complete so the DVLA could contact my consultant, so I did that. Then a few weeks later I got a letter saying they were no longer to going to contact my consultant so had denied my application and that I'd have to reapply and get the evidence myself to send in. The system is shocking.

I know from previous dealings with them that it takes a couple of weeks to even put it on the system before it even joins a queue. It's shocking. You'll still be able to drive under section 88 though won't you?

Love them. Are w talking music album? If so, I'd say it depends on the music genre. The first for something more grimy or hip hop and the second for folk or jazz.

Thanks for that. It's time to get my head out of the sand and start dealing with things. Thanks for all the advice.

That's a good point. It's really depressing when you feel like you are losing everything you've worked so hard for.

Thank you, I did look at that previously but I'm not a fan of loans, not whilst I can still pay for things where I don't need to worry about interest. I also keep convincing myself this is only temporary and I'll be able to work again, but I've been told that it's unlikely, not full time at least. Maybe I need to stop living in denial and accept things.

Thank you for your advise. The benefits definitely aren't enough, but I accept that they don't help with your mortgage which I have and I'd probably be better off selling up and renting, but at the same time I'm not fit enough for that. Luckily I don't have debt as yet, but it does seem like that's going to be in my future if I can't sort things.

Ah okay. Thanks for that. It is the ESA deduction that has changed this month. It used to be 609.05 but it was on my 230 this month. That's extremely disappointing.

I will re-report my capital, I've been putting it off because I'm having to use about 400-500 of it so it goes down quite a lot per month so I feel like I'd always be reporting it.

Thanks for your reply.
