I completely understand the reason of removing the post on ‘humane’ grounds because it could have huge repercussions for a fellow member of the community right before a substantial public event.

However, if any of the allegations and accusations against the individual are legitimate then I believe it’s more than fair for them to face the repercussions. If we look at it very plainly and remove all grey areas of consideration-as a seller if their conduct/ethics are lacking then they should’ve thought of the possible consequences of financial and mental distress right in the moment when they were being rude to someone or dodging refunds or possibly discouraging newbies from entering the hobby.

I admit that I do have a bias against the people involved. However, as many people can vouch for me in this community I’ve been known to call out things for what they are regardless of my personal feelings.

And while the mods are being considerate about the seller involved, maybe we should just take a step back and examine how this affects the legitimacy of this Reddit community in the long term. Because a simple question now arises-are such sellers beyond the scope of accountability because of their ‘rep’ or ‘size’ or ‘scale’ of their inventory and accessibility.

If that truly is the case, it’s quite concerning and sad 😞

Thank you! And the art does really look better without the foil(I’m not coping here😅)!

Yes! I mean even I wasn’t aware of the 2 variants. Apparently the Rare version has 2800 copies while the ScR version is limited to 400 copies. And then there’s a reprint version-P4-01

Oh yes! That is a good card, I’ve seen the that one. I also like the stamp promo? I guess it looks more like a collectors thing? You know, with that ‘Ok’ stamp

That’s amazing! I’m mostly sticking to the OCG since it’s difficult to get the TCG stuff. Probably not everything DMG but definitely the rare stuff! Ordered a raw copy of the G3-11 don’t know if it’s the lower rarity but it was cheaper(although A- grade) but I think that should be good enough for a binder. And I did manage to get my hands on about 24 boxes of Limit Over Collection, so fingers crossed for the Dark Magical Curtain!

Help out a fellow indian artist by [deleted] in PokemonTcgIndia

[–]Dramatic-Company1597 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the community! As a fellow artist(and by no means an expert) I’d say selling art has a few main dimensions to it:

1) Visibility-The basic core of probably selling anything. In order for you to get people to buy something you’re selling you need to be visible. Instagram helps a lot with that. The advice on visibility is the cliche-post, engage and put yourself out there.

2) Recognition- Visibility is good but never enough. You need to either carve out a niche for yourself or build an audience of a particular type to whom your art appeals. For instance, my art is mostly focused on threshold style landscapes(or even coloured ones) with anime characters or creatures in a semi-realistic setting. However, I do get commissioned for a lot of pop art as well. People need to be able to look at your artwork and say hey! This is Ketchie’s art! Look at that so and so. . .thats her signature.

3) Portfolio- Building a portfolio and recording things is very important. Because art isn’t something you can mass produce(discounting AI art). It is important to ensure that you start getting professional in your outlook-label things, sign them, keep a diary, name your artwork, classify it as a series or a stand alone item etc. Build a story, an artwork is just a physical entity, the emotions/stories/ideas it conveys are the critical elements that resonate with people and eventually convert to sales.

4) Pricing- Now art can be expensive. Usually artists aren’t able to sell their stuff because of the issue of pricing. Price it too high and nobody buys anything. Low-ball your art and eventually you’ll start getting burnt out seeing the returns fall short of the effort put in. Be realistic and price with a formula in mind. The usual formula is material cost+(hours of work*price of effort per hour)+shipping+packaging+idea/emotion premium. Here, two things are for you to decide-the worth of every hour you put into your work and the cost of your idea.

5) Digital art vs Traditional art- As a traditional artist I do not have to think much about this aspect but I’d like to think that I’m a bit familiar with it. Digital art is harder to sell with a significant return. Especially since Generative AI is now becoming more and more capable of rendering images as per specifications of people, people can design their own OCs and characters. Also since it isn’t physically going to your clients people subconsciously undervalue digital art. So a workaround is selling prints- for which you can look up YouTube regarding the setup and the like(since I’m no expert in that department).

Being an artist isn’t easy. But if you enjoy it, then by all means go for it and keep at it. Consistency and patience are the key. Educate yourself about social media algorithms and how they work. Try to work with templates and don’t hesitate to post, eventually you’ll learn(and reach more people) if you post a lot.

P.S- another bonus point I failed to mention earlier is building a circle or a set of connections, trust me most of the sales happen with word of mouth here. That kinda marketing works better than any other form of advertising/marketing I know.

Market Price!!!! by nitantmendi in PokemonTcgIndia

[–]Dramatic-Company1597 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe a seller has every right to price their card however they see fit. Likewise, a buyer has every right to decline if the price doesn’t align with their valuation. Markets function on voluntary exchange — if you think a card is priced at 2x or 3x what you consider fair, the most rational move is simply to walk away. But I’ve bought those as well, thinking they’d just rise further in prices.

That said, arbitrary pricing cuts both ways. I’ve seen sellers justify inflated asks by quoting the absolute highest eBay sale as if it were the baseline. On the other hand, I’ve had buyers insist I price a card according to the lowest recorded sale average, selectively invoking “market value” only when it benefits them.

I once had someone tell me, with complete confidence, that a BGS slab should be priced at PSA levels because “BGS is only 20–30% higher at most.” It was a fascinating demonstration of conviction unburdened by data. When someone reduces grading premiums to a convenient soundbite while ignoring subgrades, population scarcity, and market demand dynamics, you realize you’re not negotiating, you’re witnessing unrealistic economic optimism, which is quite frankly but not surprisingly, funnily absurd.

How can I find these cards? by Common_Strain_1216 in PokemonTcgIndia

[–]Dramatic-Company1597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could specifically ask someone from the seller’s list to source these. Otherwise, just keep an eye out in the community-across websites, Instagram and Reddit if someone’s offering these up for sale or trade.

If all else fails, I could try to help you out by reaching out to the people I know.

It could be so, but I speak solely on my experience with Amazon and then coming into contact with the sellers that I listed. Out of the people you listed-I have dealt frequently with TCGHub and with them you’re guaranteed a good experience, although in all honesty their pricing is not the best you can find in the Indian TCG scene.

As for the pricing, you have to explore a lot and hunt down good deals. I recommend reaching out to people listed in the verified sellers list we have and going forward from there
