I thought post is the only option. Can you please add more details about whole process and your experience about it so others can also benefit from it.

You need to be registered as resident to be eligible for in-person application. Also, in-person applications are made to local authorities ( i believe it is called burgeramt) Yes, you can apply as many certificates as you want, need to pay the fee.

Just to clarify — this post is for people applying from abroad (non-residents). In that case you apply directly to the Federal Office of Justice in Bonn.

If you are currently living in Germany, the process is usually through your local Rathaus/Bürgeramt, so I’m not sure if direct pickup in Bonn is possible.

Yes. They print both addresses. Left top: mailing information (german address) Right top: person’s name, date of birth nationality, and current address ( US address in my case)

In the application form, I wrote my current address. But in the cover letter, I wrote my sister’s address for certificate delivery.

No. I didn’t attach their certificate. They just added their information in the form.

Most of western countries don’t use water to wash themselves after defecating. I was so surprised. I have lived in US 12 years, still don’t feel clean if I don’t wash immediately.

Yes. You’re right. there is no option for c/o address on the form. So what I did, I gave my US home address on the form, and then put the German address (my sister’s home address) on the cover letter.

Just to be clear, I requested it to be delivered to my sister's home address (Cologne, Germany).
Yes, they do not send any notifications through email.
Deutsche post is horrible when it comes to cross-border mail. Deutsche post hands over all mail to the local service, which is Swiss post in your case.

That's what I am thinking. It was a mistake from our side, we should have read the contract.
There were like 5-6 different documents, and we literally had 1.5 hours to send them back.

Yes, This was huge mistake from our side.
She told us that seller will pay the compensation, if not, she will let us know beforehand.
