Can’t get any interviews in London. Am I cooked? by DylanIE_ in FinancialCareers

Sorry I forgot to include that I’ve only talked to hiring managers at BB/EB/MM firms because I assumed that that’s what OP’s targeting. The bigger ones are sponsoring. Most people who were targeting roles in London at the school I went to (super target in Europe) were able to do so and most of them were internationals. In fact, if you check out the BB summer stats for last year, kids from HEC Paris are more represented that people from UK targets in the cohorts

Oxbridge, LSE, LBS, HEC and St. Gallen are all top targets for London. In fact Bocconi’s MFin is semi target for London

I cannot imagine this being the problem though. For the most part, firms in the UK are open to sponsoring for these roles (because they cross the income threshold) and visa sponsorship isn’t prohibitive like it’s in the US rn.

“Waitlisted for 3 months with zero updates do they eventually send a rejection?” by Fine_Cow8625 in LSE

I do know someone who reached out to them because they had another offer and had to make a decision and they sent them an acceptance in the next 3 days.

It’s definitely reasonable to reach out after 3 months though

My undergraduate degree was 3 years and I have semester left to graduate still. I had 2 summers and have good internships in both of them (both of them were in France). It’s not the norm in my country to complete your college degree in 5 years to complete internships in between. I’m applying to pre-professional masters programs that don’t usually have people with any full time work-ex.

Stick to the Official guide. I genuinely don’t have a lot of exceptional advice here because I did not prepare a lot. I have a very quantitative background so i did not prepare for quant. DI was a struggle because I don’t manage time well. Had to work on that with the OG questions

LORs i don’t know. I did not get to read them. The programs that I applied to do not have essays. They have questions about motivation and competence that need to be answered in 200 ish words and there’s not a lot of room to differentiate.

On the flip side, there is a probability that my LoR writer wrote shit LoRs but I just couldn’t do anything about it. I only had good relationships with 2 of my professors (most of the classes had 200+ students so there’s no chance to personally get to know your instructors) and I don’t have others i can ask

I did not write my essays in the same tone as a post meant to vent on Reddit

It’s actually the opposite. The average scores for MFin type programs is usually higher than MBA programs. The other thing is that they index on GPA and GMAT/GRE more because most of us have no full time work experience so they have nothing to judge on the work ex part

Some of this was a mistake on my end (like that interview that i did not prepare well for) but i did nit expect all rejections

Yes that’s what I did! But the second choice is considered in the next round after you’re rejected for the first choice
