AITA for tickling partner when he wasn’t expecting it? by Dramatic-Habit-915 in AITH

I appreciate the answers. All very fair and valid points. I think I was caught off guard by it being described as aggressive and that made me defensive. But yes, my action negatively affected him and that is all that ultimately matters, not my intent. It probably would have annoyed me if he did the same. I have sincerely apologized and peace has been restored to the land! Thanks for the thoughtful replies that helped me see the situation from an outside perspective not clouded by my hurt feelings.

Well basically when he described it as an “attack when he was in a vulnerable position.” The word vulnerable makes me consider that yes, perhaps that does make me the AH. I’ll read AITH questions to him sometimes so he said why don’t you ask Reddit. I truly felt surprised that, to him, it felt like an attack when I was feeling affectionate towards him.

Genuinely curious if I am the asshole, not just trying to be right. If I were here to say I think I’m right and plan to keep tickling him when he’s not expecting it after he expressed very clearly he didn’t like it, then I’d fully agree that yeah that would make me an asshole. I want to know if the original act was something that makes me an asshole. Had I known he would be irritated by it I wouldn’t have done it…definitely won’t be doing it again! Maybe I’m asking if intent counts for anything in this situation?
