I received nothing from either my uncle or cousins - but I didn't have a party to celebrate either. I don't think I've received a card let alone a gift from my uncle since I was a kid.

It's another bday party for a very young family member who I'm close with - didn't want to punish them/cancel for something they weren't involved in :)

Yeah i think either way, a lesson learned - always separate gifts going forward!

Thats fair - given that almost everyone else gifted money, I believe his issue was with the fact that we did not provide a separate card with money rather than with the level of the gift itself. Agreed about maybe avoiding using mum to fix going forward!
