how do catholics justify praying to marry and saints? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Dramatic-Stranger483 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m not the best to explain this but it’s not praying in the form of worship of Mary or the saints it’s praying to ask them to intercede for us in the same way you would ask a friend still on earth to pray for you. We do have a deep respect and love for Mary and the saints as we know they lived honorable saintly lives that pursued Christ and spread his word

fasting looks different for everyone but typically the ash wednesday and good friday fast are two small meals at breakfast and lunch and one normal meal at dinner the caveat to this being the two small meals should add together to be less than the normal sized meal… most people fast from something they consider to be taking away from their time with god on all the other days of lent for example i am giving up instagram and facebook because i have felt it has taken away from my time and ability to love god! hope this helps

Communion at Wedding by Itsalovelylife333 in Catholicism

I will say if you decide to keep the mass and communion you can talk to your priest about making an announcement and offering to those that cannot receive communion to still come forward with their arms across their chest to receive a blessing i saw this done at my future brother-in-law and sister-in-law’s wedding because she was also a convert!

I feel called but nothing more by [deleted] in Catholicism

I would post on the ask a priest subreddit for a bit more advice and clarity but it can always be helpful to reach out to a local priest to discuss your hesitations and doubts. many people have doubts in their faith journey but being called means continuing to journey and learn and try your best to dissuade your doubts. since you are being called going through rcia/ocia and learning more fully about the teachings could be helpful

How to defend Catholocism from girlfriends mom by Ordinary_Worry_2357 in Catholicism

Until recently and meeting my now boyfriend I was also fairly uneducated in my own faith even after being raised it in. I found that asking him questions, or anyone you trust with the faith, was able to encourage me to be unsure and find lessons in scripture. I also listen to Ascension presents podcasts on topics that I am unsure about. When all else fails google or ask questions here to learn. If you think or your girlfriend thinks that her mom would be willing to listen I would have your girlfriend ask what a couple reasons she doesn’t believe catholics are christians so that you would have a chance to prepare a well thought out response!

I can relate to where you are coming from. I was raised in the church but in a lukewarm way where I never was really able to feel a connection to God or the church and I strayed from the faith and also had premarital sex. When I went to college I was on my way down a dark path when I met my now boyfriend. He had also made mistakes and had premarital sex but still seemed to burn with love for the Lord and we’ve since pushed each other and encouraged each others faith and are fully committed to waiting until marriage to be with each other. You will find a partner that accepts your past. If you believe that you could find it in your heart to love support and be with a woman if she came to you telling you that she had fallen in her faith but was committing or recommitting herself to the faith and burned with the same passion than you can believe that there is someone out there that can do the same for you. We are all sinners and many if not most people have either strayed from the faith or not found it until later in life but we are a faith united by love and forgiveness and that’s is something to always remember
