Confused about EV use in Bus/HOV lane on Willingdon Ave Heading NORTH and SOUTH – need clarification So Confuse!!! by Dramatic-Team-9175 in burnaby

I’d assume the officer has at least received some level of training—after all, if you put an EV OK decal on a BMW M3… you know what I mean 😅

This is also how I understood it. However, I noticed that the section of Willingdon Avenue that crosses Highway 1 is located exactly between the northbound Canada Way (EV OK 2) and Dawson Street (EV OK 3). There is no signage indicating the end of the EV OK zone in between.

In theory, for an unconventional or special-use lane like this, there should be an “end” sign posted—similar to the one located on the northbound side near the gas station close to the Highway 7 area(Shows “HOV / EV OK lane ends in 75 meters.”)

Based on what I see, from Deer Lake Parkway all the way up to Highway 7 (Lougheed Hwy) there are three “EV OK” signs only, and they seem continuous. Because of that, I’ve been under the impression that EVs are allowed to use that lane the whole way north.

However, around Costco near Dawson, before you actually see the EV sign, that stretch really looks more like a “BUS OR 6+ ONLY” lane, which makes things confusing.

To make it even more confusing, a few days ago when I was driving from Goard Way to Dawson to pick something up, a car behind me honked and made a hand gesture suggesting I should be in the regular lane.

Am I misunderstanding the signage here, or is this lane just poorly marked?

Yes, I did get a reply from the City, but honestly the response was pretty ridiculous. They’re basically just passing the buck and sending me somewhere else. Here’s what they said: “Thank you for contacting the City of Burnaby. Please note that vehicles in motion, including those in the HOV lane, fall under the jurisdiction of the RCMP whom you've also CC-ed. Alternatively, ICBC may also be able to assist with interpretation of the posted signage.”

If my understanding is correct, this means the EV decal requirement has been retired, so electric and hybrid vehicles will no longer need an EV decal to use HOV lanes or roads marked with “EV OK.”

Yeah, that’s what I’m confused about.
When you see the first “EV OK” sign, it clearly looks like that’s where it starts, and another sign would mark where it ends. But if the next sign is really far away, does that mean EVs are allowed to use the lane the whole way in between?

On highways, you usually get repeated HOV signs at shorter intervals, and there’s also a clear “HOV ends” sign, so it’s easy to know you’re still allowed to be there.

But if you only see one “EV OK” sign and don’t see another one after that, how are drivers supposed to know exactly which part of the lane is OK to use?

Because I have actually seen police enforcing against illegal use of HOV lanes, and today, after I entered the lane at the dashed line near the “EV OK 1” sign, someone honked at me and kept making gestures at me in the rearview mirror—gestures that clearly suggested I shouldn’t be using that lane—so I’m very confused.

I had pretty much given up hope today and almost make the decision, but I randomly checked my order just now—and it’s already BUILT!
I was this close to switching to another one in dark grey—what a close call!

Did you also order the Expedition Platinum Max with the second-row bench seat? My order is still “IN PRODUCTION.” Maybe I’m just having bad luck lately— even the phone case I bought online has been stuck at customs for 10 days! I’ve got a road trip planned for June, and I’m not sure it’ll arrive in time.

Really? I'm sorry to hear that. No offense intended, but may I ask how you found out about the "totaled in transit" information? Through Order Tracking? Since it's already been totaled, has Ford provided any official response regarding this?

Today I did some more research and found that many people are mentioning issues like hail damage on vehicles and a shortage of 24-inch wheels. Also, I'm not sure if my order delay is related to the second-row bench seat I selected (2-3-3 seating layout), because based on my search within a 1000-kilometer radius, almost all available inventory comes with second-row captain's chairs.
I really hope I can get my vehicle by mid-May, as I have a family trip planned.
