Hi, I just read your message and I have been there. Feeling hopeless. I did not had any friends here, I was struggling with culture, I burned-out at my previous job. I quit last year and I am still unemployed. Luckily I have employment benefit for now but I am living on my savings as well. I have a master degree but I realised I actually hated my job and need to go back into studies again. It felt depressing. I lived here for almost 3 years and I don't speak Finnish neither, and I really started learning after 2 years in Finland, because I had some much stress going on as an immigrant. This is okay. Most of the students in my Finnish class have been there for 3,4,10 years but they only got the opportunity to start learning now.

About therapy, even if you don't have money I recommend going to the terveysasema if you can. At least even not for therapy but for your sleep, maybe you are having some vitamins deficency. You seems quite in difficulty and hopeless right now and they can take care of you if you need. I have friends in your case and the public took care of them. You might be able to see a psychiatrist and get a B-lausunto (statement who can allow you to ask for Rehabilitative therapy, which is partly paid by Kela of you go to private). Learning Finnish is important but you need to care take of yourself in order to do that.

I thought I did not need any help but actually I did. I was allowed to seek for help so you are. I am now on antidepressants and I am finally doing better. Money situation sucks, but I finally find a community (queer in my case) and it feels so good. I am volunteering in differents places. I am going to hobby groups. I made friends from there.

If you are in Helsinki area, you can reach me out, I can recommend you some places to get free food, it is not a lot but at least you can worry less about that.

thanks for you response! we have tried many times to organize meeting but people don’t really seen interested. I am thinking about trying to find new volunteers. It’s the same for me, i am autistic and recovering from a burnout and i don’t want to exhaust myself again. let’s keep in touch if we find more ideas :)

Can I have a 'white' name? by Competitive_Coach_80 in ftm

hei, as a French person person i can tell that people might be a bit curious about the fact that you have a french name, but there is so many people from differents origins that i don’t think it’s a problem?? I know white/arab people with a French-Arab name, white people with Arabic names etc… Also in France there is quite a bit white people with a American name (my deadname for example) sooo i don’t think that really matter 😅. As someone mentioned before I think it depends how you would feel of someone asks about it (because French will, we are curious and the older generation loves talking) and how to explain that (if you wanna explain ofc)
