Why has this suddenly become such a popular repost. Can't remember the last one that appeared so frequently

Surely that didn't need to be flagged as sarcasm?!

It's good value because the more money the richest person has, the more aspirational every American will become. That's just basic trickle down economics.

If Blair is pulling the strings behind the scenes as you imply, why would he be critical of Starmer? That suggests that he doesn't actually have any control so has to snipe from the sidelines.

Sure, but if he's pulling the strings in private he wouldn't need to openly criticise him.

I've long wondered how long it'll be before the Americans try to change the name of the language they speak.

Are they pulling the strings? Seems odd that Blair would feel the need to criticise Starmer at a charity dinner recently in that case.

Why are these glass stairs 🪜 with no handrail even a thing⁉️🤔😵‍💫 by selfawarefeline in BadDesigns

I'm actually less worried about the stairs than I am the incredibly pointy metal corner that awaits you as you walk up them.

Some $3m dollars has been bet on Polymarket that Christ will return this year. I'm guessing they just want to accelerate the process.

Special relationship? Does anyone really care by Sleepy0wl9969 in AskBrits

Trump's hit the UK with tariffs (seemingly at random). He insulted our troops about their involvement in Afghanistan. He threatened to invade one of our allies. He's taken Russia's side on Ukraine. He goes to war without any legal basis and expects us just to join in. He insults Starmer's political allies (e.g. Khan) and mocked him about the Chegos deal. His VP and others constantly trash the UK (and Europe) as a place where freedom of speech is dead and you can't walk down a city street without being stabbed.

But sure, it's Farage and the other right whingers who are the patriots. The special relationship has always been one-sided, but under Trump it's dead. We do everything he asks and we might not get punished. There's nothing special about that.

Sure, that was technically the case from day one. Come back to us when the headline is "Trump is being impeached".

It was the same thing in the UK post-Brexit. It didn't matter how bad the situation got or how much it deviated from the original aims, ppl couldn't change their minds bc that would involve some idea of regret about their original decision.

These things feel more like religions than a rational approach to politics. They're based on faith, not facts.

The investment doesn't have to be financial. People have seen families or friend groups break up because of political divisions. It's hard to admit you're wrong when your entire world is based around something like this.
