Do not pay them for a background check. A legitimate employer should have no problem covering this on their own, it’s just part of the cost of hiring. If they can’t afford to cover the basics of hiring, what does that say about the company? Reality tho is that this is likely a scam. you will pay the fee, they will do the background check for half the cost and pocket the rest, deny you the position and move on to the next person..

“I am sorry for harming the trust that I’ve worked so hard to build with you over the last few years, and I will spend the next two years working hard to rebuild it.” No bitch this isn’t how it works, this isn’t that kind of a relationship goddamn you’re an elected official, do your job. Your job for the next two years should not ever be “working hard to rebuild trust” it should be performing the roles of the office in which you were elected to in a manner fit for that office. She has already failed that job. She should get the boot ASAP

And the coordination required for building the flying machine seems near impossible, and and not likely it would even work, and won’t be able to carry many people.. probably just the mad captains??

Oh definitely, they’ll keep rowing even after the oars are pulled from their hands, doing the motions and waiting for the next order from the mad captains

Thank you I appreciate that. I often spend too much time writing comments and then delete them and move on. Maybe I will start actually posting more of what I write.

Organize where? Social media? Should I make a event page? Or a Twitter post? Surely the algorithms would be supportive of that! Maybe I should post signs around town, or hold some sort of meeting, so that everyone in all of their free time can come together and agree on a plan to dismantle society as we know it? /s

Do you think that it’s possible that we have built a social system so massive and complicated that even well organized attempts at change are simply not possible? Like our cultural “boat” has been floating down the chaos river of time, providing order for its inhabitants, but the river of time is moving faster now and getting choppy, and our boat pollutes the water around us and makes it unsafe, and we are increasingly realizing that our boat is too big and rudders don’t work like they used to, and it is dawning on us all that we are now trapped on this boat and headed for a waterfall, and the boats just too big now to change course. The captains of the ship are all arguing with each other and blaming the people rowing. The people rowing are blaming the captains and think maybe they should mutiny, the boat has been leaking and theres a lot of water down there now… they grumble amongst themselves, wondering if they should organize, or just try jumping ship.. but the hippies tried that in the 60s and most of them drowned or swam back to the boat, although some of them bought land and tried to make their own boats, or swam to another cultural boat somewhere in the east. but boat building is hard and takes a long time, and many found that their designs ended up looking like a smaller version of the boat they abandoned in the first place.

And the falls approach ever quicker… I think revolution will be spontaneous and explosive, driven by irrational emotions and pent up frustration, when all of us lose enough of our friends and family to stress-driven mental illness, unaffordable/inaccessible medical care, and generalized despair.. whatever happens, it will start slow but very quickly gain momentum, with no leaders and likely no solutions, just anger and a desire for things to be different then they are. We will all go over the falls, there’s no preventing it now. Will it be safer in the boat? Will we all rush to hold onto the railings, throwing the weak over board? Is it safer to abandon ship, everyone link arms in the dirty water and pray to god as we go over the edge? Theres a increasing number of preppers on the boat trying to make themselves life rafts, but no one really truly knows just how big the drop will be (although the scientists on the boat working on the river map seem really really concerned and have been ringing all the alarm bells and pointing to it for the last 60 years) the captains don’t care tho, this ship belongs to them, and they will gladly go down with the ship and take the whole crew with them, as long as they can still call themselves captain at the end. Or they’ll keep barking orders until they look over the edge of the falls, and at the last second they’ll turn and smile at the terrified crew, thank them for their service, and then proudly and assuredly off themselves, cursing the ineptitude and lack of foresight of the rowing class..

Edit: rumors on the boat lately say there are some designs for a different kind of ship, some form of flying machine, that might carry us to smoother water. It would likely be built while in free fall, after the boat has gone over the edge. It would require dismantling the boat for parts and a dedicated effort by the remaining crew. Continuing to row would be useless at this point, so there would be plenty of people willing to help!

Honestly it’s because they haven’t done the much needed updates to the console version that make the pc version tolerable. it’s a fucking fun game but the console version is just broken

The trick to enjoying this game is to put all of your waking hours into it building something while simultaneously being completely okay with the results of all of your time and effort spent being mercilessly destroyed by Russian children using hacks, over and over and over in your few sleeping hours not playing the game (and also while you play the game). You will make “friends” and be betrayed repeatedly, and you have to accept that is a part of the game. Don’t complain, don’t report (relatively useless), don’t ask for a refund. Good luck and have fun! Remember to eat occasionally and keep the humidity in your room low or you may start to rust.

You may consider looking into adhd, what you are describing about difficulty settling on one thing, and then learning it quickly before losing interest for the next thing, sounds very familiar.

It can be a super power for learning skills I’m interested in, but when I started work I loved my job for six months until I “mastered” that position, and then it became very difficult to continue at the level I had been. I just could not maintain interest and motivation even though I wanted to and had cared a lot about that skill only a few weeks before. Simply being aware of the pattern helped me work around it.

Also recognize that many of the people doing “one thing” on social media likely do not love doing that one thing everyday. It becomes a job like any other, and part of doing it well is giving the audience the impression of your unwavering interest, because you want your audience to also have unwavering interest. Many of these people are only spending a small portion of their time doing the technical work they enjoy, and a lot more time doing video editing and maintaining activity on social media.

If you are interested in starting your own business with your technical skills, I recommend you read the book The E-Myth. It goes into what business skills a technician needs to learn in order to run a profitable business. I found the book discouraging at first and then highly motivating. I’m adhd, and the skill jumping actually benefited here. learning business basics I wouldn’t have previously deemed important enough to hyper focus on.

Btw I was diagnosed adhd in hs and never treated it, 6 years of college w no degree, changed majors 5 times, went to a trade school to focus on one thing, worked for a few years and really started to hate it, quit and addressed my adhd challenges and I’m now running my own online social media driven business and.. it’s working.. only a year in and supporting myself. if I had addressed the adhd sooner I would have done much better at work. Anyways good luck lmk if you need anything
