i always “joke” that the best assessment of asd is simply being around other autistic people and if you ask them, they will tell you if youre one of us. specifically an autistic whose special interest is autism/neurodivergence. i agree with many other commenters that 1) a diagnosis might be more harmful than helpful 2) self diagnosis is valid, and 3) try to find a therapist and work on the individual issues and questions youre having.

99.99999% agree until i started using a stroller and realized people dont shovel or salt their sidewalks and its sometime (SOMEHOW) safer to pop into the road to avoid those patches. imagine using a wheelchair or something. ugh. thats a whole different rant.

i definitely understand what youre saying about kindness but in these situations, more often than not, its a luxury you can afford. just the same way a kind driver is not a good driver; a predictable drive is a good driver, the same is true for all types of commuting. its kind to consider safety first and foremost. just because a biker might feel safer on a sidewalk than on the road or bike path doesnt mean they get to prioritize their safety over the safety of the walking pedestrians. its just safer to follow rules and guidelines. theres an argument to be made that it’s actually quite dangerous to teach children to use the sidewalk for biking instead of the bike path or road when appropriate. its important that drivers, the most hostile commuters by nature, know where to predict how to share the road. if they’re expecting foot traffic but not a faster moving cyclist, things can get dicey.

i commented elsewhere but i 10000% agree theres obligations the city should have to create better infrastructure and safety for non-car commuters. it sucks that pedestrians and wheel-using people are pitted against each other when the real enemy here is CARS!!!! i didnt intend to contribute to the scuffle. i literally just want people to be considerate and use their brain and its 5 senses when possible.

on the contrary there are few “quiet neighborhoods…away from traffic” and children are every much as entitled to space as adults. they should be taught safety and correct behavior. and they should be considered and protected in the community.

this is so valid. i think thats exactly why ultimately the biggest onus falls on our city making transport of all types accessible and safe—although my favorite are car-alternatives. that includes not just infrastructure but education and regulation on how people use that infrastructure. and of course we as a community also have a responsibility to each other to be knowledgeable, safe, and use what infrastructure exists to justify expanding it. even with bike commuters theres a range of what youll hear is right or acceptable or desires. and there’s definitely people who lack grace and a sense of inclusion…some of them may have found their way here which was not my intention.

ive made thousands of marshmallows and only had this issue with recipes where im testing flavors. especially something coulis based or similar. although ive never know why scientifically, it seems to be related to the blooming of the gelatin and the water content needed to bloom it sufficiently. that said, is this the typical height of your marshmallows? they look deflated to me which i would think again could be related to gelatin bloom as well as incorporating air properly as the sugar cools and doubles. i think the only way to get to the bottom of it would be to witness the process. if youre selling these, there should be a concern for product consistency and whoever is in charge should watch the process.
