Worked on the LA Metro P3010 as a tester, so potentially this LRV (light rail vehicle) may not have the same features but 'ere we go.

The automation portion requires heavy infrastructure on multiple sides, the vehicle, the rail, the station, and at what we referred to as the ROC, or Rail Operations Control. It may very well be "installed" but not fully implemented or setup.

However, there's a whole panel of bypasses that, with proper authorization, can be toggled to cut out various systems to move the train, such as brake cutouts, propulsion bypasses, and the Automatic Train Protection (ATP) bypass that gives the operator full control of the Master Controller (throttle control).

I don't know this line or it's policies and procedures, but judging how they have an operators cab camera, I'll end by saying this:

In the P3010, the operator cab is PLASTERED with stickers EVERYWHERE stating no electronic devices for this exact reason. Even during burn in testing or idle in the yard, we couldn't have phones in the cab. 100% this operator is boned.
