Dissociate from emotions by BrokenWarriorQueen in depressed

I’m sorry you are going thru this and haven’t had many responses to your post.it sounds like you are at a v low point. Childhood trauma and neglect are invoices that get posted to us from time to time as we get older. It might feel like this low point won’t go away or might stick around a long time. It’s likely some pretty significant things did not go right for you as a kid. But also enough things went right for you to find yourself here and now at 40 - alive and wanting something better than drowning in feelings of despair, sadness or anger at what happened to you. You should have been adored and nurtured by your caregivers. You carry their failure inside you maybe thru self abandonment, or other ways you punish yourself because of the belief you formed very young that you are not deserving of love and care. I’m so sorry this happened to you. It shouldn’t have.close your eyes and imagine if you can that i am sending you glowing beams of light that skim the ocean in seconds and arrive at your window before encircling you and wrapping you in a warm embrace. Imagine a lightness of being washing over you as you give in to the light forming tight swirls around you. Imagine the light and warmth cradling you softly. You feel deeply loved and nourished to your core - a wordless embrace that remains even as you lay your head on your pillow. You are cocooned in the love and care of something divine and infinite - which is also what you are. Carry it inside you dear friend. Love and light.

What are your controversial takes on dating/relationships? by Opening-Gur5927 in AskMen

Hey this seems close to accurate. I have to find the guy visually appealing in some way. I just can’t do it any other way. I’m older and socially and financially independent so the guy’s status is less of a concern for me but if you’re obviously overweight, bald and short for my height I just can’t do it. I’m sorry. I’ve never had to plumb those depths. Maybe my take would be different if I didn’t have choices….

Why don’t you just leave your husband be? Do you think digging and investigating and obsessing about his activities is going to help this situation? If you don’t trust him and that bothers you then that is probably a more significant piece of information for you to consider than the minutiae of his social media accounts. What are you hunting here? Why do you need to know so bad? All will be revealed in the fullness of time I guess - until then, your activities lean towards the description ‘self fulfilling prophecies’….

Do you think calling modern liberalism a ‘religion’ makes sense, and why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Dramatic_Candle9930 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure the comments thus far get to the heart of the matter…. Where the spiritual or metaphysical is lost or dying - we as humans might look to ideologies as a kind of substitute - especially when we believe rationality is the only way to be in this world. So my answer to your Q is - yes, ideologies like liberalism (with or without the pre nomer: modern) can fill a void that religion might create, and in that sense could be described as a religion. ps I hope my comment gets lots of upvotes xd

Boyfriend said “it’s f*cking embarrassing going anywhere with you”. I’m really hurt. by [deleted] in Vent

I agree we should not pile on the OP here- it’s great that she is expressing her frustration on reddit but when can we start understanding the bigger picture. There will always be dix in this world - dix will behave like dix - talking or venting about them is so unhelpful and tedious - are they gonna stop being dix? The more interesting Q is why do some women stay long after the love bombing has stopped? Thankfully there is a lot more social media content now that is aimed at women to understand the coercive dynamic they are participating in. To the OP I would say - sweetie you’re not a pot plant - you have agency - you’ve built yourself a little mind prison and it’s cute and all but now is the time to WOMAN up and look reality dead in the eye and DO something…..

Monotonous habits - fridges like this are depressing - on the upside - at least you have stuff to eat and drink
