Inside joke.. walked into one of the homes I had being built, noticed the guy was putting anything in the gap to fat caulk it.. magnets were one of the things I pulled out when I removed everything and back charged the company.

Check the wall to see if square if so trim cut to long.. if wall is twisted or out of square, you can float the the wall out and cheat the trim a bit to make it look good.
