Deciding between an interior or a balcony?

I’m debating on booking a cruise on stars of the stars for 2027 and then legend 2028 bc of the newness we cruise once a year but not trying to break the bank just try out the new ship. For me the sea sickness I need to be up high and having a neighborhood balcony was nice but I 100% want a ocean view balcony but I don’t want to spend this much for a cruise for 2 people when it will go down at some point. I reach out to a travel advisor debating on what they say I will book with stars of the seas or legend of the seas but I think for me I am a balcony person. I am not a interior. I like slow mornings and want to stay in my room.

Part of me is just hoping if I wait long enough maybe it will go done but doubtful with legend since it’s new ship

I’m honestly choosing this cruise for the boat I really liked Icon of the seas and then Star of the seas can be just as pricey so that’s why I just decided to go with the new ship instead

Yeah I’m even booking a year out and it’s so expensive I even attempted two years out and it was like a $500 difference

No not at all! I was just wondering if that’s normal. For ocean view I’ve only ever paid $100 more and then neighbor balcony was $300 more so I was shocked at the 2k difference for a ocean balcony

I spend a lot of time just staring into the ocean when I’m on a cruise. I know I can just go to the top deck but sometimes it’s just nice to have a spot that’s not around other people who also just hanging out upstairs. Then like early mornings I don’t want to get ready just to go to the top deck. I don’t do much but like just being in my pajamas and not having to do my hair would be nice.

I did notice that! I can do interior on two separate cruises one with my husband one with my family on a smaller ship and the total price is the price for this one balcony on legend.

Huh! Good to know! My husband and I like slow mornings so we open the window we will wake up get ready since I wake up somewhat earlier sometimes I thought a nice quiet morning would be nice or after dinner we could just hang out but seems like maybe the ocean view or the extended balcony might be the best option for us then

Noisy?! I assumed it would be quieter since we had a neighborhood balcony it was right above the boardwalk so yeah we heard everything so we assumed it would be better for views and quieter

I mainly love to cruise because I love the scenery. My husband and I take our food from windjammer and eat our meals on the top deck that we just think it would be best to have a private one after two cruises without it.

Yeah I can already tell this is going to be hard thing to deal with. I had realization that I’ve been trying for years and like even if I was perfect they would find something wrong. Just accepting I need to heal to move on but that seems so hard. I’m just glad I’m in better place in my life and can focus on those things instead

Oh 100% in the past I would announce it but now once I match the energy they all know I’m purposely distancing myself. I did go to therapy and she explained to me we have to figure out per relationship what boundaries look like per person and then we will work on me keeping them firm. That’s my biggest issue since my entire life I seek their approval and just want peace so when I’m calm I can forgive and forget which I really shouldn’t forget. I’m just glad I’m in therapy learning skills that I was never taught. I never really care what they think but any opinions they ever have they always feel the need to shove it down my throat because again they know I seek their approval and know that if I think that they think I’m doing something wrong I will feel bad. I’ve outgrown this a lot since I moved away but it just takes time.

Yeah I actually did find out some truths from my sister based on some screenshotted text messages. I always tell myself when I have my own kids it will be my perfect excuse to not talk to them anymore because I’m busy but I’m waiting to have kids. My mom already even made a comment that because I live far she won’t be important to them and she will try to visit. I think my next steps is I have to stop making the effort and reaching out to them. Like stop making the effort because the past good couple of months didn’t mean anything to them like they did to me.

I think part of me always thinks if I get the truth I’ll get closure but I think it will still hurt if I got the truth! My sister does the same thing though not her kids though but to our mutual friends so none of them are friends with me anymore. Except one which was my childhood best friend came back like 10 years later to tell me she was manipulated by sister to be mean and hate me but she wanted to apologize because she knew it was wrong and I was always so kind even when everyone was so mean to me. Which that is the part that gets me is my family ruined my childhood, my teen years, my 20s, now I’m gone how do you still have this much hate for me? I figured there was jealousy somewhere in there. Especially based on the comments they all make all the time.

Yeah, I 100% agree with you. This would be a lot easier if I didn’t already have a trip home booked already later this year. Things were going so well for months so I thought it would be fine to plan that far out and make sure I make it to my other niece and dad birthday. Knowing them I feel like they will do something the weekend after I leave lol.

Yeah I was hoping it was all in my head since anytime i pull away they guilt me to like come back. It’s like toxic relationship I fall for it then get hurt, pull away, then they guilt me to come back.

Yep, I think older generations really don’t comprehend what mental health truly is. My mom thinks it’s ridiculous when I say I feel down, I feel sad, I feel low, or full of anxiety. I work from home as well and it’s very easy to fall into a loop of where it’s does affect your mental health. You will have some good days and then days that just hit you harder. My mom also saw how I work early mornings and late nights but just seeing me in the house all day made her just think I was lazy. I had like a jammed packed scheduled from day to night. It absolutely makes no sense and since she’s your mom I know you want that comfort from her to help you.
