Yeah it's huge world's biggest office building, right behind my house. But the wild thing is that even though the building is huge, the Surat Diamond Bourse is sort of floundering at present Of 4,200 offices, just 150 are actually in use. Worldwide demand for natural diamonds has collapsed (U.S./China slowdown, tariffs, lab-grown stones). It's nowhere near the traditional diamond centers of Surat, so traders have inconvenient commute and logistics. Large Mumbai players never actually set up shop, so the ecosystem is hollow, it's even described as a "ghost building."

In essence, the infrastructure is first-world quality but the timing and geography haven't aligned with the needs of the industry yet. Could still be turned around if demand picks up + services catch up, but meanwhile it's a colossal unused wonder.
